Fabricated posted:I dunno; my memory is fuzzy but I don't really recall Erina really being "romantically" flustered by Souma; she just seems pissed this weird little nobody doesn't give a poo poo about her power/influence and on top of it his cooking isn't bad either. The softer she gets with him the more it seems like she recognizes his talent rather than her falling for him. The second chapter of the manga had his dad say "find a wonderful woman to feed your food to," and the next panel it cut to Erina. They're not really being subtle about it, especially when they add in the "Erina gets flustered by shojo" poo poo. In any case, she's not really "tsundere" at this point, she's mostly just a jerkass who has no real experience at acting like a normal teenager. Aldini/Soma and Erina/Soma are probably the two most popular fan pairings in Japan, fyi

Mikl posted:Quoting myself from six months ago: SwissArmyDruid posted:I'll sign onto that theory. I'll even go one step further as to suggest that Soma and Erina share a mother or something. Actually, its completely impossible - Soma and Erina are the same age. For them to have the same mother and be the same age they'd have to be twins, meaning its impossible unless we're operating on the assumption that they are full blooded twins and Joichiro stole Soma from the crib and raised him in secret as his son. The only way they could be related is if they're cousins, which is probably not very likely given that there's not very much drama involved in that (and she already has a cousin). Angry Grimace posted:The writer probably hired tosh because he read tosh's porno crap. But that's not as unusual as you would imagine; lots and lots of illustrators have written porno doujins, e.g. Ken Akamatsu (I'm sure you're surprised). Add to the fact that Tosh used to run almost regularly for the hentai manga he was published in meant he was popular enough to be included in the first place and could meet all of the deadlines. I doubt Tosh will ever get a solo work that'll run all that long, but his ability to draw and his out put are good enough to keep him gainfully employed by Jump as long as there's a writer in need of an Artist. As for contributions by Tosh to the story, I'm sure some of the visual flair of the characters was added by him.

Wasn't there an extra chapter where they prefaced with something like "Hey let's make tosh draw a bunch of lewd stuff again, it'll make make the readers happy" or something?

That was the extra with the other Shounen Jump heroines, yes.

New episode out today. The pacing was incredibly quick (like most of the anime so far, it seems). Also, rare footage of Nao being somewhat cute?

New chapter chat: Rindou looks like female Soma (I mean, if Soma was a cat-girl, I guess). I bet Joichiro might show up again here.

Amazed at how they keep showing new girls that are immediately more interesting and fun than Erina. Hopefully the next chapters give something to her and we see a new side.

Wild Speculation: Erina hasn't seen her dad for a while because he is the black sheep of the family and works in a non-food field. Going by his mode of dress this field is most likely A)Funeral Services B)International Assassination or C)Host I'm sure it'll just turn out he's like Food Satan or something, but hey you never know.

Given Erina's stance against failure and her response to Alice's loss (it must be nice to be able to cry), her dad is just probably typical stern Asian father with over expectations taken to the extreme.

So is the implication that neither Kuga nor Souma won on the 5th day because Alice's team kicked everyone's rear end? Because if so that's pretty great.

BlitzBlast posted:So is the implication that neither Kuga nor Souma won on the 5th day because Alice's team kicked everyone's rear end? Nah, Alice was in Main Street while Kuga and Souma were in the Central Area. Basically, neither Souma nor Kuga got what they wanted. Souma beat Kuga on the 4th day in terms of sales, but lost overall in total sales. Meanwhile, Kuga beat Souma overall and (presumably) placed 1st on the 5th day, but failed to stay in 1st place for all 5 days, which was his condition for a rematch with the 1st Seat.

Man, I was hoping to get more on team Alice, but this was alright I suppose. I'm also a bit surprised that we got a bit of Kuga's backstory already, I knew he'd probably turn out to be a good dude (like pretty much every character) but I thought it'd happen a bit later. Good to get some more info on some of the higher seats as well, Rindou is pretty cool.

It'd probably be telling if we could tell if Erina uses "otou-sama". Because people who make their children use "otou-sama" are always kind and gentle people, right?!
