Hey I had a thought. HLM2 isn't online at all, so does anyone know if within the GameMaker limitations there is any possibility of getting maybe a LUA mod script extender or something that will allow custom campaign creators the ability to inject their own art assets, music, and extend the ability to do cutscenes to further expand the possibilities when the level editor comes out? Obviously something like that won't come for a long time, obviously, but my question is if it's even possible.

It's not possible because they're never releasing the editor.

I apologize Stairmaster, you're funny and all, but I'm looking for a real answer. We all know the editor will be out eventually and if something like that is possible getting a jump on it might be a good idea.

You mean like how Skyrim has SKSE? It's pooooossssssssible but a) it depends on the makeup of the game's code and let's be real here, Soderstrom is no Carmack, and b) the HM fan base is really not big enough compared to Bethesda games, especially now that the final installment is almost six months old.

Even if it was possible you can bet your rear end that everything with custom music is getting yanked off of Steam Workshop or whatever online sharing service they use.

You'd have to be at least in your twenties to pull off a Kenshiro. Such manliness couldn't be contained in a teenager's body. Real poo poo.

At the beginning of Beard's first level, you can see all the fans chilling out at a bar. Same exact hairstyles for all of them, so it'd be one hell of a coincidence if that's not them. Also, it implies they're at least the same age as Jacket

There's an internet full of pixel artists who would jump at the chance to work on a game, maybe in the future it would be worth it to sacrifice that indie cred and bring one of them on board so every character in the game doesn't have doppelgangers running around thanks to re-using templates for all the faces.

Well the .wad files are openable and injectable. I'm just hoping that Dennaton sets it up Doom style with IWAD and PWAD style file structure allowing content creators more freedom. Similar to how Portal 2 did it. "You can use our in-house level editor and that's it, or take things a step further and create your own unique levels."

I guess we won't know until the editor is released.

I think if you brought in artists and programmers from elsewhere, Söderström and Wedin would be relegated to the role of idea guys, or maybe concept artists/prototype designers.

It always happens when studios get bigger.

It honestly wouldn't be that bad of an idea in their case. The fact that the "the fans fought in Hawaii!" theory is still around is proof enough that their art isn't good enough to carry a game with even the scale of HM2 - let alone anything bigger - and their coding has never really gone above acceptable. This was fine when they were just two dudes making weird violent indie games, but HM2 was a step up in scale in pretty much every way, and bringing some extra staff on board would be a great idea, unless they plan on their next game being smaller than HM2.

Dunno if it's good but nobody is really talking about it and it looks pretty alright and has a really interesting premise. It has the potential to be some kind of minor cult hit sometime down the line.

I've played through the first five levels, and it's ok. I'm finding the general gameplay is still pretty reductive, and there are a lot of cases where you're left with a set of stationary targets all clumped together- this might be intentional or a bug.

Dance by them to get them to react. They'll either follow you to kick your rear end or disperse in disgust.

I love Party Hard but some of the levels are really unbalanced (Beach Level) but the music is brilliant and despite some bullshit ai at times it's really addictive.

The worst party is getting Andrew W.K. all the time when I try and look info on it.

edit: Classic. I killed everyone in the frat house bar the last girl who had stressed out so much she'd gone into a frenzy and killed me instead.

That sounds like an amazing combination, definitely gonna pick it up at some point. But I get the feeling it's going to be Bundle Filler in the near future so I don't know if I should hold off.

So is the goal of the game to kill every single person in a level? Because I imagine if the goal were just to break up a party then it'd be way too easy, since after a single body was found the party would be over as police start crawling all over the place looking for clues.

Diesel Fucker

Yeah you have to kill everyone, but thankfully everyone is just too darn busy partying hard to care when a speaker explodes maiming half of them or when someone "falls" into a open top fan.

I say they're too busy. They freak out and panic for a bit running around wildly and that's when you pick them off one at a time, but too much stress can cause THEM to go on the hunt for YOU.

I just wish now there were more characters to play as. I like the idea of the gimmicks (A ninja who can't be seen at all and has to use gas grenades and a cop who cant use traps) but they hobble themselves worse than they make themselves fun to play as.

I ignored everything about Hotline Miami 2 when it was released to avoid spoilers and am just now playing it on PS4. I can't remember if it was an issue with the first game, but needing to play zoomed out almost all the time and still running into bullshit kills from off the screen is really putting a damper on my enjoyment :(. Also how in the hell has there not been a patch to fix enemies becoming invincible while in doorways?
