I think it's more that they have trouble telling stories with any consistency and also there's probably some fear of pushing forward strong, controversial, risky ideas in that big of a group. You kind of have to yes-man along with everyone when you're that interchangeable and replaceable. In a smaller group they'd have more authority. But I can see your point.
