I watched it and it was alright. The teacher was chill despite is inability to hold a conversation. The dream sequence when they passed out before was kind of odd but it seemed it was related to her ex BF moving to Tokyo and all her band friends going away it seemed.

i watched the movie and i liked it. i t was a fun little story about high school and making friends and having friends. is this a normal genre for like Japanese films just a high school slice of life thing? i dont think like american movies have this same type of thing i am not much of a film buff. i also like how every dream sequence in Japanese tv or film has people you know standing around you clapping and saying congratulations.

i ended up playing mapgames for 4 hours instead of watching this, but i will definitely do it tomorrow.

I haven't watched too many Asian films, so I'll just mention Departures and The Kids' Return, both with solid soundtracks by Joe Hisaishi. I'm still a bit unsure how to feel about the Kids' Return but that's mostly because it's a movie that ends on a somewhat ambivalent note. I watched it because I really liked the theme for it, so I was curious about the movie it was from.

its cool that the director of academy award winning film departures used to direct pink films in the 80s maybe we should include some ozu or naruse or oshima for the babies in the thread. i will suggest late spring and when a woman ascends the stairs and in the realm of the senses respectively

I love Oshima but I wonder how well people would actually like his work. I think I saw six of his films before something clicked and I started liking them Also I second Peking Opera Blues just because Brigitte Lin is in men's clothing for most of that movie and it's great Parallax fucked around with this message at 16:51 on Aug 24, 2015 |

Just finished watching this week's movie and it was pretty good. I especially liked all the cute secondary scenes and plot lines like Son rejecting Macky, Korean BBQ Darts, and any scene with Takako. But I agree with Flameingblack, Nozomi's just kinda there for a two hour-long movie. Thought she'd at least get some kind of minor plot line. Also do they ever explain who the little girl is that Son hangs out with outside reading manga and at darts?

I dunno if we want rotating genres each week so we switch it up or if thats too complicated and just the OP dictates and can be swayed by posting
