Oof, 5700 yen is a bit steep, but a price I'll gladly pay for sick squid beatz.

Also just had a few games on the Blackbelly/Kelp rotation, and just my luck, the one time I want to try out the Neo Splash-O-Matic is the time an S+ Splat Charger shows up. I couldn't even get one hit on her, I got owned so badly. Hope she accepts my friend request, I demand a rematch.

No, it's way more important that they hold their safe defensive positions so they get a good KDR.

Right, I'm ready to declare the regular Splat Charger as one of my mains. The ink grenade sub is great for offensive play and when you need to put some distance to your pursuers. And the bomb rush special is for pushing the opposition back. A versatile weapon even if your aim sucks once in a while.

Even if Nintendo doesn't go for more single-player campaign stuff, I'd gladly go for a set of challenge missions like MK:DS, along with an achievement set to work towards. I'm actually surprised Nintendo hasn't done anything with achievements in their games yet.

Aren't the amiibo challenges kind of exactly that? Also, I hope Nintendo never does ANYTHING with achievements.

Don't need a holster if you never stop shooting.

The Amiibo challenges aren't actually difficult, but they're a fun little diversion. The main issue is, there's no incentive to play them again once you're done. I wish they had time attack or something.

If Nintendo felt like it, I bet they could release mini level packs, eshop only, $20 a pop, with, say, 15 single player levels using only the ink brush. Or the bucket. Or the splatling gun. You get the idea. It would probably sell relatively decently.

Or, they could sell Marie and Callie amiibos that unlock ink brush/bucket challenges. Everyone would hella buy Marie and Callie amiibos.

So what I'm getting from this is that if you stack three items with the same main ability, you get a substantial increase to the effectiveness of that ability, but stacking sub-abilities isn't as effective. Honestly, I've gotten pretty far without min-maxing my gear, and I've been wondering for a while now just how effective abilities are and whether or not I'm putting myself at a disadvantage by not paying a lot of attention to them. That video cleared things up a little, thanks.

Most sub-abilities are close to useless. Most main abilities aren't that good, either. Wear what you want, how good you are at the game is more important. Except Ink Resistance, that's really good.

That channel has an ink resistance video (from July before it got nerfed a little) and it's absolutely insane what 1 main ink resist did in 1.2

Like 600% movement speed increase

Something like 9 seconds to cross an enemy ink zone vs 34~ seconds

I can't find it and I'm lazy on my phone

Yeah iirc stacking 3 subs is only slightly stronger than 1 main. The only break points that matter are main ink use down (you can get a roller to 7 flicks instead of 6), and a little less damage fall off from flicking at maximum range.

But like, you're not gonna suddenly start dominating cause you micromanaged one extra flick. It's a good balance between gearing if you want but not having to absolutely do it to win since game sense will take you farther anyway

Ink resistance got nerfed to the point where its not amazing anymore. I'd say its only a must have now if you're using a weapon that can't easily paint in front of your feet. The best example of this is the rainmaker actually, so its pretty useful in that mode. Tenacity, comeback, stealth jump, and cold-blooded are all still really good though.

I'd agree that you should prioritze looking cool over abilities though. Everytime I see someone wearing that hideous pink sweatshirt with defense up I die a bit inside. It looks like something my grandmother would wear.

It doesn't matter how cool they are, I won't wear gear that has bomb range up or one of the things that gives you a stat boost in the last seconds of a match.

Nothing feels tighter than a ranked match when you're A- with 99, we were in tower control, pulled off a sweet advantage early on, were close to a knockout with a bunch of killing and a shield being used along the way but they stopped us just five short. Rest of the match was making sure they wouldn't take the advantage and a few swears later i'm rank A.
