So it turns out the real enemy to videogames turned out to be pachinko. Pachinko is expected to be the place where all dead videogame franchises go. As shown by the recent Valkyrie Profile and Suikoden pachinko machines.

I don't really think any of the DS games are very good. Not that Harmony of Dissonance was the best game ever, but I think Symphony, Aria and Circle are all quite a few steps above anything on the DS.

Order of Ecclesia is my favorite GBA/DS Castlevania, I feel. At least it's the one I've replayed the most.

I was actually so disappointed in Portrait that I traded it in shortly after finishing it. Probably would have done the same with Harmony if I didn't have the HoD/AoS double cart. Silent Hill pachinko I really feel like Until Dawn is the closest to Silent Hills we will ever see. It does a better job of being spooky than either Downpour or Homecoming. It doesn't delve into Satan land like a classic Silent Hill, but I can pretend the mines are Silent Hill.

OoE was good and mechanically interesting and I would've liked to see them iterate on it. I even think Lords of Shadow was a good attempt at what it was actually doing, just that what it was doing (cloning God of War) was a poor and baffling decision for the Castlevania franchise.

But yeah, it's really great. Love the soundtrack, just wish it could be remastered somehow, because early GBA games don't sound too good.

Circle of the Moon's soundtrack is good as hell. All the handheld games throw in a remastered classic track here and there for fanservice. CoM not only had the most of such tracks but I think it was also the only one to use music from Bloodlines and Castlevania 4.

The proper way to kickstart is to start one for a game you don't plan on working on for a year so that you can finish the last one that you underestimated budget on, deliver poo poo on the first one, and never send more than token updates on the next one and promptly have a nervous breakdown. Igarashi needs to get with the program.
