Another big mistake was marketing it as a grand theft auto type game, nobody wants to play more rent-a-cracker GTA clones. Turns out the games are nothing like that at all, but the damage was done by that point.

This wasn't posted here, but the EU prices for Yakuza 5 will be £29.99/€39.99. I'm guessing price in Australia might be around AU$50. No pre-order will go up, but there will be a 15% off launch discount whenever it comes out. 15% discount might be for PS+ members only. There is a lot of conflicting info out there about all this, especially the discount availability.

I thought the price was actually pretty fair throughout considering the discount, included DLC and staggering amount of content. I was prepared to hand over $60 even though I have the imported version that I played about halfway through. It's possibly one of the best games that I have played on PS3 and it's just unfortunate that Sega couldn't properly market the series. I do hope we get Zero as that one looks amazing (mainly because of the setting and Majima). I imported it already but would much rather play it in English (Yakuza 5 showed that my Japanese sucks for these sorts of games as Kanji is too tough for my level and i miss like half the spoken conversation). Edit: With all the Shenmue 3 interest, Sega really could have capitalized with both 1&2 HD release of Shenmue, as well as 1&2 HD release of Yakuza and re-marketing the series in the West. Unfortunately they really, really would need a PS4 version to relaunch as PS3 software sales are dead.

So I started playing Y4 to prepare myself. I still haven't gotten past Akiyama because I'm getting distracted with all the poo poo I can do! Hunting down locker keys? Check! Making friends with everyone in town? Check! Try to set the high score in Baseball? Check! And Yakuza 5 is even better than this? I'm hosed!

getting all the locker keys with akiyama can be a bad idea because they won't be there for the other characters and they're handy for when you're low on cash and want some healing itmes or want some weapons/armour

Specifically taking out some sacred wood stick or whatever from its locker makes it almost impossible to unlock a stage of Saejima's combat skill training until the final chapter.

Also any character can just savescum the casino for 30 minutes and have a billion yen.
