PS10 is second unto God in this meta. High PS is great In general. Anything that tells Soontir to get hosed on PS or initiative is great. I'm looking forward to seeing if I can fit Poe with VI and R5-P9 into my XXX list in place of Luke. I think I've got the spare points to fit it within 100. I'll lose the practical guaranteed initiative bid, but the extra durability, could be worth it. I just regret not being able to fit autothrusters in there.

I'm sorry for making GBS threads up the thread with newbie questions, but I was wondering if you could help me out with building a beginner-friendly but strong Imperial squadron at 100 points. Currently, all our matches in our gaming group have ended in clear-cut Rebel victories, usually 100 points to zero. With everybody getting used to maneuvering tactically, avoiding obstacles and positioning the ships effectively, it seems it is far easier to be able to make a few mistakes that just eat up your shields rather than explode into smithereens with an unlucky turn in front of the Rebel arcs while flying a Fighter, an Interceptor or even a Phantom. I currently own four TIE fighters, two Interceptors, a TIE Advanced, a Firespray and a Phantom. I can proxy the needed pilot and upgrade cards easily with a color printer, if I am missing some.

Something decent for a beginner would probably be something along these lines: Krassis Trelix (36) "Mangler" Cannon (4) Mercenary Copilot (2) "Howlrunner" (18) Stealth Device (3) Academy Pilot (12) Academy Pilot (12) Academy Pilot (12) Total: 99 That gives you a solid damaging ship with a lot of HP that's easy to fly, plus a TIE fighter escort that you can practice flying in formation.

Had a lot of success with a similar list, excepted flew howl with nothing and krassis with hlc and recon spec, which for my money, hits harder and is much more durable.

Played another Redline/Deathrain/Dark Curse game. Went against IG88B and Latts in the YV. Game ended in an Imperial win with Redline at one HP left and no pilot ability. I almost threw the game away by flying past the YV after getting behind it when it stalled, but was able to boost out of range the next turn and then K-turn and finish its last two HP with a plasma torpedo. Next list I'm going to try for those interested, mostly shuffling ordnance around: Redline w/ FCS, Extra Munitions, Plasma Torps, Cluster Missiles, and Ion Missiles. Deathrain w/ AS, Extra Munitions, Proton Bombs, Conner Net, Flechette Torpedo, and TIE mk 2. Dark Curse So far it's done well. The Ion Missiles are fantastic against large ships to gently caress up their maneuvers.

It was a close match, and in the end, I had only Krassis with zero shields and full hull and one Academy Pilot with two hull left.

How easy is it to pop off the rear stabilizer wing from the YV-666? It looks like doing that and magnetizing it that way is a much better solution than magnetizing the individual wings.

There's already a nice seam where each wing attaches that probably wouldn't stand out very much when you've made them detachable. The corresponding seam for the rear section is curved, which would probably be a pain to cut cleanly.

It was definitely the better option! There's a post it just slides onto, which does a good job holding it in place even without a magnet. I did flake some paint off getting my knife into the seam to go after the glue, but nobody's gonna look that close. Make sure to sever the cables running down the back of the main body.

Played a store tournament that was 150 points, only named pilots. Bossk is a loving beast.pairing him with Mangler Cannon, Outlaw Tech, K4 Security droid, Gunner, Predator, and Hound's Tooth Title is insane. Just completely tore through everything it went against. Took that and 2 88's. The hardest time I had was with an elite X-Wing list, because they set me up where I had no other choice but to joust one turn and that's really not what my guys needed to do, but was still able to win thanks to the Pup. Went undefeated and won the usual loot and the alt art Luke card from Gen Con. Also, with Talonbane Cobra, there s something satisfying to be at range one and down to one hull, so you smoke some space meth (Glitterstim) and roll 2 crits and 3 eyes. Then survive the round. I have always been an Imperial player, but Scum is really calling to me.

Or was he manuverable enough without it? I am planning on 2 Y-Wings with TLT and Agromech, so I only have 48 points left to play with Bossk. I was planning on Mangler, Engine, Predator, and Outlaw tech. If I gave up Engine, I could take the K4, and the manuvering fins. Just trying to figure out which the better option might be. For background, my only experience flying a ship with no K-Turn is the HWK (with a turret, so no big deal), and a Doom shuttle. I usually can't get anything in arc with the doom shuttle after the initial joust. I think the hours tooth solves this slightly by having white 3 turns and a wider arc. But would like to know how you fared.

Just got second at a store tourney and can confirm Bosk is a beast as the guy flying him went 4-0 all day. Loaded with Outlaw tech and K-4 security droid with Calculation and he can just pop small based ships at will. I did get to play a fun list outside my norm, though. Twin laser turrets are a blessing at evening out my crappy dice rolling and making fat hans waste evades and C2POs. N'dru was pretty lack luster as usually but the Ys really shined. The humble ps1 Z-95 actually claimed most of the kills by finishing off ships chipped down my TLT fire. -Edit- Here is my list: Binayre Pirate (12) Binayre Pirate (12) Syndicate Thug (18) Twin Laser Turret (6) Unhinged Astromech (1) Syndicate Thug (18) Twin Laser Turret (6) Unhinged Astromech (1) N'Dru Suhlak (17) Veteran Instincts (1) Cluster Missiles (4) Stealth Device (3) Total: 99 Chance II fucked around with this message at 04:37 on Aug 30, 2015 |

Honestly, with the 666's stall maneuver and 180 arc, I kind of feel like it wouldn't be needed. I also feel the K4 Security droid was more useful than the Outlaw Tech because getting to take a Target Lock for free then taking a focus as your action (which are the only two action the 666 has) was great. I doubted the HT title at first, but the Pup was deployed on 3 of the 4 matches, did damage to the enemy every time, was never destroyed, and ended up winning me the match once, so I say those 6 points are worth it. Even with the Maneuver Fins only costing 1, I do not see them being worth it, at least for my flying style. You absolutely cannot fly the 666 like a shuttle, despite it's lack of K turns and a stall maneuver. Get at range 3 or so, then start sort of spinning. Worked for me. I usually had no problem getting some in the 180 arc. I am seriously thinking of trying out a Bossk with Calculations, Mangler, Outlaw Tech, K4, Gunner, and HT title, with 2 Spice Runners with TLT. enigmahfc fucked around with this message at 04:45 on Aug 30, 2015 |

My list is simple Howlrunner with swarm tactics, and stealth device. 7 X Academy pilots 3 x Cutlass pilots, with authothrusters, adv. homing missiles, Fire Control System and extra munitions. CRITS FOR EVERYONE! It would be a nice alpha strike on any big ship we face I think.

Move, SLAM, drop the bomb right in the face of that high PS ship, and watch it have no choice but to fly right in the DANGER ZONE! I ran M. Doni and dropped cluster bombs right in front of Vader, who then moved, bumped into Doni, and took all three Cluster Bomb explosions, which took Vader out. This was before Vader had caused any damage what so ever in that match. It was great.

I started off trying to make a scum version of the XXX rebel list but the Z95 didn't seem to really have a pilot that fit the bill. So now I'm here: 34 points Talonbane Cobra Predator (3) “Hot Shot” Blaster (3) 34 points Kavil Twin Laser Turret (6) Unhinged Astromech (1) Marksmanship (3) BTL-A4 Y-Wing (0) 31 points Torkhil Mux Twin Laser Turret (6) Recon Specialist (3) Moldy Crow (3) Do you guys think the Khiraxz will be able to do what I'm trying to make it do? It seems pretty good to me at PS9, but I haven't really played it yet

So, today I took down a tournament and got, alongside other swag, this cool thing: So, I ran: Trandoshan Slaver(29) Heavy Laser Cannon(7) K4 Security Droid(3) Greedo(1) 3x Cartel Marauder (20) All Wave 7, and while the YV did about what I expected, I was actually very pleasantly surprised by the Kihraxz fighter. A lot of people were unimpressed with anything but Cobra but I think if you see what that dial can do, even the PS2s can work. Round 1: I played against: IG88C & D (36) Autothrusters (2) Dampeners (2) Advanced Sensors (3) Outmaneuver(3) Cluster Mines (4) I have to admit I was surprised not to see any cannons. We went up the board- he tried to avoid a joust with the YV and went into the rock field I put on my edge of the board. So, IG-88C gets into trouble by getting into bumper cars in the middle and is stuck being unable to token up for defense. He doesn't focus his fire and the other IG is played extremely defensively- this will be a common theme through all the games- opponents playing way too defensively against ships that have 1 turns. This guy has a tendency to take a long time to play which ended up to my advantage once I killed the IG that got stuck. With all my ships left, an IG taking range 3 shots with no cannon, I win the game on time, 49-0. Round 2: I played against: Coloniel Jendon(26) Enhanced Scopes(1) ST-321(3) Palpatine(8) Engine Upgrade(4) Darth Vader(29) Tie/x1+Advanced Targeting Computer(1) Predator(3) Lieutenant Colzet(23) Tie/x1+Advanced Targeting Computer(1) There may have been other stuff but I don't remember. Anyway he sets up on the opposite corner from me, we slow roll it around, and then he makes a really big boo boo when he turns his Palpmobile right at me, and he does this with Vader out of the picture for the joust. I get range 3 shots before he gets anything other than the shuttle fire, then his shuttle comes in hard to try to bump me out but he only bumps off one K-fighter and the Shuttle goes down under withering fire the turn after. 5 red dice against 13 is bad, and this will come up later, too. Once he gets down to the Tie As, a real bad thing happens- instead of trying to kill one or two of the K-fighters to get some kind of parity in firepower, he pulls back and tries to pass me up. K-fighters have 1-turns and can turn around quickly without having to resort to their 4 and 5Ks which take them out of the action a lot. The YV gets into a spot that forces both Tie As to bump him, and the K-fighters finish them both off soon enough. The only list that had anything resembling a good jousting value was a 4 TLT thug list but I didn't have to play him because he got a modified win against Fat Han. Mean list, though. Everyone else was running big ships and aces, the usual. I won 100-0 Round 3(This will be on youtube sometime on Friday, i'll link it if I don't forget.) My opponent: Captain Oicunn(42) Cluster missiles(Illegal, hah! 4) Ruthlessness(3) Ysanne Isard(4) Mara Jade(3) Rebel Captive(3) Tempest Squadron Pilot(21) Tie/x1+Advanced Targeting Computer(1) Howlrunner(18) Swarm Tactics(2) So, we set up on opposite corners- he just randomly throws rocks down. I don't mind, really. I think I might take bigger rocks because I don't mind them, though I never played against super Dash, so i'm not too sure. Anyway, we take our time and go up the opposite edges of the map. I make my turn in a little bit before I get to the edge- I want some flexbility. He, too, turns in. After the match he told me he wanted to get gummed up in an asteroid field but I told him that his list was not a good jousting list and he should not have come straight at me with Oicunn. When he turns into the asteroid field, Oicunn gets into trouble when he bumps, then he runs on top of an asteroid. In the meantime he takes a bunch of shots from erratically flown K-fighters. He actually gets out of the scrum and lives with one hull point left. Also, Howlrunner comes in formation, but I took her down with two shots- I don't know if she made much sense in the list. The tempest was way behind and not in a jousting position. Once again I get 13 dice against his 5 and that's a critical issue. He used his cluster missile to try to proc ruthlessness twice. I don't think it works that way but then the cluster missiles were illegal, too. Oicunn gets away, and the game goes on for a while but I didn't lose anything in the initial scrum, though he does put a lot of shots into the YV, the only opponent of mine to do so today. YV is almost dead, and in the chase to kill the two remaining ships, I almost kill the Tempest, while the YV-666 gets in a comedy chase with Oicunn. Eventually he catches up- I had to turn around with 3 hards. That being said, the YV is really fast in a straight line. It has green straights up to 3 and a 4 straight, too. White, even. Once I got the YV into HLC range, Oicunn's luck ran out- he took several K-fighter shots on 1 hp and lived through them all thanks to Ysanne. Once Oicunn is gone, a 1-hull Tie A goes up against a 3 hull Kihr at R1 and the tempest dies. I win the tournament, and the game, 100-40. I'll give some more specific conclusions later, but man, I do love the Kihraxz. It is everything the X-wing wished it could be.
