I just love how three months ago the Republican Party was polishing their spears and putting on their best grass skirts for the primary, and then along comes The Donald in his ironclad steamer. He rolls off the ramp onto their little tribal island, plants a flag, and announces "You're Fired!"

If there's one thing this particular political silly season has done, it's revealed just how weak of a candidate Jeb! seems to be. It's clear Trump is really getting under his skin (Does anyone have video of Bush exiting the church and speaking to reporters?), and if this keeps up (god I hope it keeps up) there's really no way it "benefits" him (Jeb!).

The field was diluted enough early on for Trump to step in at the start of the ceremonial pageant and steal the tiara, and iJeb! (And the party leadership) was clearly not ready to be on the defensive this early, since his nomination was supposed to be virtually guaranteed. At this point, even if Trump doesn't win the primary he's already done damage to Jeb's general election chances and alienated him from the general Republican base. I think I'd be bitter, too, if it was me.

I'm still waiting from the 'thought' pieces from VICE or Buzzfeed about Donald Trump's cyberbullying of Jeb, and why it's not OK. EDIT: Bush Gets Personal With ‘Germophobe’ Attack on Trump Even the reporting on his anti-Trump quiz makes him sound weak. Can't beat a reality TV star, how can he beat ISIS? There's also this: quote:While Trump assured me that he thinks Bush is “a nice person,” he has told friends in private that his animosity is personal. According to one friend, Trump blames Bush and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim for Univision’s decision in June to cancel a $13.5 million contract with Trump to televise his Miss USA pageant. Five days later, Slim scrapped a deal with Trump to develop shows in Mexico. Trump responded by filing a $500 million lawsuit against Univision. “Trump believes it all goes back to Jeb,” the friend says. “He thinks Jeb and his wife, Columba, are close with Carlos Slim and Univision got pressure from Slim operatives.” In a move that further confirmed Trump’s suspicions, Univision has hired Miguel Estrada, a Washington lawyer with deep Bush ties. http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/08/trump-expansion-plan.html

Yeah I think in 2000 that the media would be doing a lot more to stop Trump or at least call him out a lot more. Jeb's responses the last few days to Trump seem a bit unfocused. I could see something happening where Jeb get's so frustrated with Trump that he says something along the lines of "you don't deserve to be President" which would result in a meltdown. With some of the things Trump is hinting at in the Republican primary (taking care of everyone [healthcare], college debt wrecking people's lives, tax the rich, really tax the hedge-fund guys), I'm extremely curious what kinds of things he would be saying if he made it into the general and pivoted.
