I really don't know how this stuff works, so if this isn't helpful just let me know, but is there any way to locally detect what page was open during a crash? Or remotely detect it and in some way (I'm deliberately avoiding the word 'push' here) inform the app after a disproportionate amount of crashes occur on one page, enabling the user to click through some form of warning dialogue when attempting to load? The second wouldn't stop all crashes from the content, but it would limit them.

Those things are all possible, but require running a service to share the crash info back after it's extracted from the report.

I've been using Gifffer to stop some gifs from autoplaying. I whitelist smilies and avatars (since they are small) and force every other gif to go through that library. That helps with performance, since it won't autoload the animation into memory.

Yes, we could do it based on the dimensions of the image. I had a patch for that in the past, but abandoned it in favor of something else that was abandoned later as well!

Have you tried pulling down from the top? The thread list has to be somewhat current in order to move to the next page. I find this quite annoying.

Most YouTube videos or pages with several gifs/YouTubes are crashing the app for me. Also having the crash when viewing YouTube videos in landscape on the rare occasion I can get them launched.

I'm on a 6+, latest version of regular app and regular OS release (not the beta)

Sounds suspiciously like an out-of-memory thing. If so, I can't promise any fixes anytime soon. I'd suggest turning off the Forums-wide "Show video embedded in posts with the [video] tag?" setting in your User Control Panel, but it doesn't sound like that'll be especially helpful if it's still crashing. Sorry!

I'm not remotely surprised it's spotty. I'm guessing the day I rip out my artisanal Imgur API client will be the day it stops being so lovely. When it fails do you get an error code or any other relevant info?

Pretend you're a relatively low-level cog in the Apple machine, or whatever employer is writing checks for these reviewers. Your job is to review apps and find anything that might not fit into the App Store ethos for the most mundane reason...any reason, really. Your job is to bit a nitpicker and there's a superior somewhere in your chain of command who cares about what you find and how efficiently you find it. Did Bob, in the next seat over, find that goatse? No, he missed that poo poo, because Bob is lazy. But you're not, so you're gonna grind hard through these subforums and OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT MAN DOING TO HIS ANUS

Also, NSFW-hiding is on for logged-out users, sample accounts have the site setting off by default.

Okay guess there's a few reasons Alien Blue doesn't seem to have these issues (possibly could but haven't heard anything about updates being delayed for similar reasons).

Maybe it's because you have to actively seek out/subscribe to porn subreddits before that stuff starts being displayed on the front page, whereas I guess technically anybody could wander into FYAD. I would call that learning a valuable life lesson the hard way, but I'm not an apple reviewer.

This is still total bullshit though.

I've made my case, hopefully I hear back soon.

edit: The trick with the smilie keyboard is that some brilliant wit can buy a new smilie that sports a penis (heaven forfend that appears in an app rated 17+), and if we get unlucky, it shows up on the site after I've submitted an update but before it goes into review, so the keyboard updates itself and :objection:
