Chibi Robo has some of the best use of music in a video game, piano notes play at every step you take, like in an old Tom and Jerry cartoon, and the soundtrack over all is pretty great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a05Nioq7VuA

I'm still mad that when I took extra care to transfer my La-Mulana data from my old computer to my new one it still deleted my save. Getting about a third of the way through that game only to lose everything kinda crimps my enthusiasm for going back to it.

OK so Machine Robo is a Popi toyline of transforming robots that started in 1982, that came over to America as part of their Gobots brand. The line went defunct in 1985, but then revived in 1986 due to the anime Machine Robo: The Revenge of Cronos and its sequel Battle Hackers. I haven't seen either of them myself, but from what I can tell it seems the protagonists robot has a matroshyka gimmick. He goes inside of a robot that goes inside of a bigger robot.
