Around here at least, every single Amarok is fitted with 22"+ bro wheels and usually driven by a self employed tradesman who specialises in serving rich people and is about to heavily overcharge you, or maybe by a site foreman who everyone mocks for driving a girls ute which probably isn't even the AWD version. They sure are big and have a pretty nice interior for the class tho. If you don't need a proper low-range 4WD system it's probably a great choice.

I was originally thinking C5 vette, but smaller and lighter would be nice. Honestly I'm divided about whether I'd want something mechanically/electrically simple and older, or something newer. I'd like to do some of the work myself but on a newer car that probably won't happen. I can't believe I'm saying this but the Genesis 3.8GT is actually really looking good. Am I sick? C5 vette is an absolute bargain right now. The go fast bits are cheap and they handle pretty well. As long as your not DasVolk. Edit: E92 335i, E46 M3, Audi S4, C5 Vette are a few I can think of off the top of my head. BrokenKnucklez fucked around with this message at 02:43 on Sep 7, 2015 |

That said, if you dare to bring up that stock-for-stock, a 350Z is faster than an S2000, everyone will be demanding your head on a stick. Sometimes the truth hurts. They're fat, don't handle particularly well, don't make extraordinary power, and aren't a steal by any stretch of the imagination.

There were some older 370's that popped up close to $20k though. Man, after looking at C5 vettes I can't really justify looking at much else. For $20k I can easily find a nice one and if I took my time and hunted I could probably find a decent one as low as $16k. And they're LSx engines so repairs and go fast parts are everywhere.

Its your cash, but you're much better off buying a C5 than a Z car. And more than likely its been babied its entire life, in a garage under a cover. The only thing is GM interior build quality. They did much better in a C5, but even a late 90s Camry interior build quality is light years better than GM.

loving coworker installed a 1.2kW inverter on Friday, couldn't get the battery terminals on in time, "Hey Tommychu can you finish this on the weekend? Truck's rolling Monday morning" So I get all my poo poo done, then have a look at this thing. He cut up a set of cheap, used 0-gauge booster cables (you know, the ones with the insulation that crumbles if you look at it funny), going through a hole that a beaver seems to have gnawed through the floor, no grommet, zero circuit protection, not even a length of hose strapped to the cable. Texted him. He's done half a dozen like that, it's fine man just put the terminals on. Somehow I get the feeling I'm going to be fixing a whole bunch of inverter installations in the near future.

Yeah I've been looking at C5's lately and the interior is...very GM. Willing to accept it though since its a pretty awesome car otherwise. The shifter would go pretty much immediately, likely for a C6 unit. Somewhat related: Winter beater, CR-V or Rav4? Probably 10ish years old.
