Probably because from a certain perspective Bernie Sanders is an outsider who has taken great pains to not be a Democrat for decades, and now wants to be a Democrat to increase his odds of winning the Presidency.
He's running as a democrat so he can run for president without handing the election to the people he despises most.
Also, this argument is ridiculous in a world where Donald Trump is the republican forerunner despite being an admitted democrat like eight years ago.

I'm not sure if they're really dumb, I'm sure they had to be very smart to end up in such a favorable position for the primary. I just can't seem to understand why they are so quick to unanimously favor one of two candidates who are apparently identical in how leftist they are. I'm plum out of reasons.

The "he's not a Democrat" argument is among the more childish, intellectually bankrupt ones. It's pathetic, and people who offer it suffer such a deficiency of reason as to be clear it's not worth the time to engage. For another example:

quote:

My guess is that he either has a severe serotonin deficiency or a big thorn stuck in his paw.

Exactly. Best not to engage him, at least directly. It's like trying sweet reason with a toddler: you end up exasperated and he thinks it's all a big game.

Honestly, divorced from the crazy racist immigration plan, a hugeyooj, impractical, useless border wall is unironically a better stimulus boost than anything the other republican candidates have proposed :v:

And as a bonus, the new construction workforce generated from the Twenty Year Wall Plan would be a tremendous boon when all our bridges finally fall apart and concrete buildings start tumbling down!

Personally I don't think the "he just became a democrat" thing is some kind of dark sin on Sanders' part, but I don't think it's necessarily ridiculous that people who have been Democratic party operatives and regional leaders and so forth might incline towards the Hilldog they know rather than the Berndog they don't. This may be a sign of dire moral failings and a lack of the true Buddha-nature of politics but it's not like some kind of incomprehensible wicked spell cast by Shrillary upon the unwitting.
