I mean, fair's fair this is also supposed to be a a metaphor. That's how they justify this nonsense. Nay is paradoxically serving Ion while saying she'll never listen to her because although she does pretty much hate and distrust Ion she's kind of indebted to her and listens to her anyway. They just decided to show this through, well through whatever that poo poo was.

Yeah when we get to the payoff of learning what's actually going on here it's honestly a pretty good level that actually works really well with the multiple participants but it does hit us with that CG art. There's still one more piece of weird art that philosophically exists back in Cass 1 if we go back now and hit on Sharl Cass but otherwise we're actually cashed on these really hosed up ones. Well new ones, maybe this one will return Godzilla-like in part two of the Dive (it will hide your loved ones).

Less a metaphor more a factual statement that this is a Gust game. The next one will actually straight spell out what's going on in perhaps as clear terms as a Dive ever does and put the artwork where our heroine has her arm around one of her half-naked friends while the other licks her foot into some sort of context. And yes please god try and find a worse caption for that image than any of the actual text that accompanies it.

Though, it's not really a metaphor that needs to be expressed through sexy CG art, but I am unsurprised that was the medium they went for considering the rest of the game. To me it's just worse than the other examples because what's happening is way more messed up. And the last time Ion did a horrible thing the conclusion was that yeah she is kind of crazy (if for sympathetic reasons) but because you love her she will heal. Which is an incredibly lame resolution, and i'm not expecting this to be resolved any better.

Ion and Nero did it pretty easy back during that whole Neptron debacle, and it seems like the Surge Concerto has enough power to do a pretty good job of executing complex commands even without sticking an extradimensional child in there as a cheap AI-Ersatz.

Re-reading this dive, I had a thought: did they just imply that Ion using frankly weak-rear end arguments against Kanon and Nay during the lead-up to Hydra_Heteromycin was deliberate on Ion's part, so that she'd have an excuse to have to impose her solution by force and absolve them of responsability?

Well, that absolved itself absurdly neatly. The whole Ion destroyed Nay's world and Nay despises her for it gets kinda dropped to focus on how Nay is fine with that as long as Ion basically takes away any responsibility she has. Which is a fine thing to consider, but back in Renall's genometrics the thing about how Nay and Ion are both hella messed up from the body switching shenanigans was sort of set up and it doesn't seem to have gotten much pay off. It's also weird that this ends with Ion coming clean about using Kanon and Nay as well, rather than anything about Nay since all the buildup seemed to be more focused on her last update. Although, maybe i'm just getting tired of Ion. In general though the three just talking it out and deciding to stop using each other but stay friends is such as quick solution. This isn't actually the end of this plotline is it?

Ion says she wants to have the same relationship with Earthes that she has with the other two, then goes on to suggest they get married. It's a hint that what she really wants is to feel like she's the most important person to someone. Renall's level wasn't really 'about' Nay and all her 'upset' in that level was exactly the sort of show she put on a lot in this level.
