Davethulhu posted:Also unrelated but does anyone know what triggers the ethereal reflect ability? Is it just a random chance for any incoming attack? Stephen9001 posted:I think it is a random chance for any incoming attack from a gun, as in, it can't trigger on rockets, flamethrowers or Kinetic Strike Modules. Or grenades. Reflect triggers whenever an incoming attack misses, and the reflected attack does 1/3 the original damage. So 100% shots are perfectly safe, as is anything without a miss chance.

Captain Foo posted:can you re-link it or just specify the change to be made? I'll do both! Link And the change is to the Assault Perk tree. Where it says "ePerk_ShockAbsorbantArmor" it should read "ePerk_ShockAbsorbentArmor" and allow it to work properly. Also not sure if I mentioned it but this current iteration has the starting scientists and engineers jumped up to 10 a piece. Still debating if this is too generous or not, I'm leaning toward too generous personally.

One of the biggest annoyances with EU is devising some elaborate plan that you're sure is going to work, and then making the first move of that master plan...only to find that for whatever stupid reason, your critical point man doesn't have LOS on the alien you thought he'd totally have LOS on, which prevents you from firing. Enemies highlighting as you choose your movement position gets rid of this ambiguity. If the enemy lights up, you have LOS and will be able to fire.

It still presents a problem in that it highlights enemies, not tiles, so if you're planning on covering a specific spot you'll only know line of sight if there's [b]already[/b[ an enemy there. But honestly, that's pretty much an edge case, and doesn't compare to the number of times I've moved someone up in desperation to get a final shot only to find they somehow can't see an alien two feet away.

At least in EU you can remember the bits of the maps that have screwy line-of-sight. I imagine the randomised maps would be incredibly frustrating without this feature if they had similar screwiness.

God drat well better be, since the other options as I see it are the static soldiers from Portent and Slingshot. Or it could be a save game import thingy which would be awesome but I seriously doubt.

FraudulentEconomics posted:Another amendment to my mod, in the MEC perk trees "ePerk_XenobiologyOverlay" should be "ePerk_XenobiologyOverlays" Do what I do, edit in Notepad++ and as you type it'll bring up options for the thing you're typing. At least your mistakes will be consistent! Also, been busy for the past week or so but Medium War is still chugging. I say this every time but major coding work should now be done (unless I find a way to label armor aim bonuses in the UI. Or decide to hardcode 5 defense to absorption fields to incentivize aliens to *not* shoot at them. Or find an unused perk to make seekers take additional damage from grenades, or any of my other projects). I'm also about 1/3rd of the way through the text file changes so that all the in game text matches up to the dozens upon dozens of changes I've made, such as the complete tech tree overhaul. Also, any thoughts on the following changes for seeker pods? I'm nerfing the poo poo out of seeker aim and removing seeker suppression because I want them to see strangle as the only viable attack option. I lowered base seeker movement a bit and gave them a 50% chance to get sprinter so the pod naturally staggers itself as it moves. Base seekers don't get HP or defense upgrades but do get DR as the game goes on (4 DR in the first year, 7 max if you decide to just never finish the game). So an end of year 1 basic seeker has 4 hp and 4 DR (no defense, no regen). Seeker pod leaders though get more hp, enough aim back to be a problem, suppression, and overwatch perks. The idea is the pod leader tries to pin down your troops while the rest of the pack sneaks up and tries to strangle. Does this mean if you bring an all SHIV/MEC/respirator implant unit that seekers are basically worthless? Yes. I think I'm ok with that.
