embassytown does a lot of fun things with language as well, for the bas lag series, the scar is immensely easier to read and better then iron council which gets caught up too much in fantasy communism

Cool to hear. I think I'll try to pick up Embassytown in the near future.

I really liked Death, With Occasional interruptions.

They should've made a movie out of that, instead of Blindness. I mean what the gently caress, a movie version of Blindness is like, missing the whole point. It'd be like making a movie of Shaow of the Colossus. Some things only work in one medium

Normally I'd say it would be okay if you wanted to chat about sci-fi or fantasy because that composes 99% of the threads there

But lately they've been caught up in incredibly inconsequential internet poo poo about authors that dominates the discussion whenever I poke my head in there.

Are they still on about that sci-fi awards gamergate thing?

I guess I can see that. Was definitely one of my favorite plane reads though.
It occupies the same headspace as a Pratchett book to me. Silly fantasy books, and easy reads.

I don't know about that, I meant the one publisher getting flooding the votes so only their stuff got nominated in some categories, so the awards show just didn't give out those awards this year.
