also there wasn't anything loss in the transition to the remakes, like, at all. g/s were my favorite pokemon games until the remakes came out, which were even better...

On the topic of the first generation of Pokemon, I used to do poo poo like... ... running Blastoise with Surf / Bubblebeam / Hydro Pump / Blizzard. I couldn't bear to delete TM moves, Surf was required (and strong), and Hydro Pump was powerful. I always lost to my sister's Charizard, which Seismic Toss'd my Blastoise to death whenever we fought. ... running Articuno with Toxic cause I saw them do that on Pokemon Colosseum or whatever for the N64. I thought to myself, that's brilliant! And never gave it a second thought. ... always picking Hitmonchan cause having a dude who could punch in 4 different elements was preferable to a dude who killed himself by jumping really high. I also used to think Mega Punch was Fighting.

Fire really had it tough in the first generation. Water had Bubblebeam to transition from Water Gun / Bubble and Surf after that, but Fire had to rely on Ember till Flamethrower or Fire Blast, which could only be used once. Sure, there was Fire Spin but gently caress Fire Spin.
