The next transformers move is going to be okay, because the first and third were considerably better than the second and fourth and this is the fifth so... Also, why doesn't Bay just hire Nick Roche and James Roberts and turn Last Stand Of The Wreckers into Transformers 5?

There is an artist with the same exact name as the guy who drew that issue, who has drawn porn. I don't know if it's him or whatever. There was a big stink on tumblr about it, apparently, as people were quite upset due to ... A certain sort of mismatch between the material it was claimed he drew and the Hasbro brand being a children's toy company.

I advise you do not look it up though.

People would still complain about that, and LSoTW has a lot of the flaws the Bay stuff does.

Still hyped as gently caress for Sins of the Wreckers though. I think they have a way better handle on what they want to do, not coming out of AHM/Costa era. Gonna be so good.

There's also that lady who did some Windblade issues who shares a name with some pornstar, which gives mixed results when people do searches for her art (which is pretty neat)

People try to go one about how some artist drew porn like it's incriminating when they all do
Yotsuba is one of the most family-friendly, wholesome, adorable series you could ever read. The artist used to draw porn to make ends meet before they hit their big break with Azumanga Daioh, and people constantly hold that they once did porn against them despite not having done any since actually becoming successful. If I had the ability to make money to draw smut and wasn't in a great place financially, you're goddamn right I'd take whatever weird commissions people ask for if it means paying the bills or keeping food on the table. It's like...what's their name on here, Red Chocobo? They're a good artist but do a lot of fetish commissions like inflation stuff because it loving PAYS. Some people have deep pockets and will shell out a heavy amount for art that caters to their fetish, and I don't blame artists one bit for taking them up on that.

I don't think Last Stand is that flawed, but it doesn't quite have the tighter pacing of some of Robert's later works - 'Remain In Light' would make an excellent move with judicious editing, as would 'Elegant Chaos' and 'Under Cold Blue Stars'. But my main problem with the Bay movies is that in each of them there's a kernel of a good idea that then gets lost. Two and Four are the worst because they reveal their world ending mcguffins nearly halfway through the move, by which point the audience has been beaten over the head with action sequences used to disguise the fact that the plot isn't really going anywhere

And I too am hyped for Sins. I've seen some of the covers and solicits for issue two and the idea is showing a lot of promise

Oh poo poo, I just parsed the dots as Menasor. I didn't realize that was Liokaiser, good point. I thought he had like, five + five beast power thingies though?

I think War butt ron's next combiner is their Menasor, actually. Or was that the shin-armor crapper we were looking at a bit back?

That reminds me that G2 Menasor has a glorious purple Motormaster with a matching Blackjack and lots of teal. I am excited to buy that guy to battle Victorion for a display of eye-searing power.

"The entire history of this incarnation is one of temporal orbits, retcons, paradoxes, parallel time lines, reiterations, and divergences. How anyone can make head or tail of all this chaos, I don't know."

Guys, no. Just make a decent Xevoz clone, then people will be happy.

So I bought Iron Factory's City Commander, the Legends scale UM. Yeah, see, this is what I thought of when I first started paying attention to third party toys. This slightly sandy feeling plastic that seems incredibly brittle and light. Combined with super-tight joints and clips/tabs that won't, the whole thing is terrifying to try and transform.

Luckily I probably won't all that much now, because it's the robot mode that's the winner here. A good looking, bulky, hefty bot despite his adorably tiny size, it's clearly the duly-appointed enforcer of the Tyrest Accord in all his stern glory. He's very well-articulated and there's even ankle tilts and some minor wrist action too, allowing for some boss posing.

But, it's a transformer so obviously there's going to be an altmode.

Yeah, the cab's nice, but my god, that back end. He unfolds much like I suspect CW Magnus to do, and then there's a whole bunch of unsatisfying leg-ness where once you're done, is like 'is that it?'. Most of the wheels are just moulded on, except for the two immediately behind the cab, just making you wonder why they bothered for the ones that are the most hidden, when they didn't for the other 5.

This panel here is frightening beyond belief. The joint itself is very stiff, and it refuses to tab into the corresponding slot without an unreasonable amount of pressure.

The trailer isn't really a car transporter this time, rather more a mishmash of pieces just making up the illusion of a trailer. The top piece of his hammer unfolds purely to fill in some void at the back where his legs don't meet his arms. I mean, sure, at a pinch you could put another car on top I guess.

That's to scale, right?

Now, your boy is covered in 5mm holes, which is good because Mags comes with an ungodly amount of accessories. Firstly, his hammer, which has now become part of his persona since everyone apparently fell in love with it in Animated. It's not bad, even if the shaft doesn't touch the ground, and there a fun hinge that helps it wrap around his boxy forearms. But what else? His original blaster in both white and grey 2 combined weapons pods that disassemble, 2 large guns, and a grey handle for his hammer because... colour variation is nice?

Overall though, I'm glad I got him, and admittedly he's filling a slot till I get CW Magnus, but I have to admit a tiny Ultra Magnus appealed to me. So seeing him there in the shop, I felt the urge to snap him up and take him home. He can happily chill with Metroplex whenever I get around to opening him, but I can't deal with that right now.
