Less than 50%, since they have identical dialogue while waiting for the results. There's only a couple of lines different each splatfest. However, we're only getting 1/6th of that unique dialogue since we're only participating in one region's splatfest. If there's tie options then we're at 1/9th.ArmyOfMidgets posted:Lets be real, if there was a tie they'd just randomly pick a team to win by 1% Eh, it's not like super snails or a couple of extra strings of dialogue cost a lot of money.

Man that bridge map is fun for the standard inkbrush, I'm just throwing sprinklers as distractions on the pillars so the enemy team has to deal with them and I can maneuver around. I can't imagine it's too much fun with any other brush though.

Octobrush is fine there. You'd think the grates would be an issue, but there's a ton of floor space and cover. Then you pop Kraken and take out the people who thought they were fairly safe on the pillars and go back to doing your thing. That said, I haven't played the map on anything but Turf Wars yet, so I don't know how it holds up in Ranked.

That reminds me of one of the cool touches in this game that I never noticed till someone on reddit mentioned it, even though it doesn't say it on the equipment screen, all of the weapons have brands like clothing does. Each with its own logo, aesthetic and naming scheme. Even the sub weapons and specials have brands. http://imgur.com/a/NSQvp Its funny looking at weapons yet to be released because you can tell exactly witch company makes each. Like the Hydra Splatling is clearly made by the same people who make the E-Liter, Blasters, and suction bombs.

You can't really tell the whole story from a sample size of just the games you've played when the game had sales in the hundreds of thousands in each of the regions. Unless there's some kind of selection factor (for instance the Transformers one splitting older players who remember how cool the Decepticons were in the 80s Transformers versus younger players who love heroes) I'd expect the win rate to be 50% +/- a few points. Bell curves are real; for every random group on your side that is good enough to lock the enemy in their spawn every time, there's a group bad enough to be locked in the spawn every time.

As much as I love the New Squiffer, I think I'm going to try out a Blaster. I like the idea that you can still do damage even if you miss, and you can hit people around corners. The real question is, which blaster? The Rapid Blaster is really bad, so not that one. Ranged? Regular? Deco? Whatever?

I don't main the blasters, but Ranged is fun on Blackbelly Skatepark or Saltspray Rig at least! Custom Blaster is fun to use in Turf War to mercilessly hunt down the other team when they're not expecting it.

I like the idea that you can still do damage even if you miss, and you can hit people around corners. The real question is, which blaster? The Rapid Blaster is really bad, so not that one. Ranged? Regular? Deco? Whatever? The only worthwhile ones IMO are Custom Blaster and Luna Blaster. Regular blaster has lovely worthless subs and Range Blaster is slower and has a smaller blast radius and the extra range is negligible. The Rapids I don't even bother with because the blast radius is smaller and the shots are weaker, and the increased rate of fire doesn't make up for either of those. Both are decent for Turf War if you're stealthy and a good shot (and netcode isn't giving you a big ol' middle finger), because while it's not great for rapid painting, you can wipe out an enemy team that's not careful, which opens up your team to take the map if they're not shitheads. A couple of drawbacks are that there's no splash if it hits the ground / a wall / an overzealous teammate who gets in the way of your shots, rendering the shot pretty useless, and if an enemy can get close enough where they splash damage won't hit them, they'll usually outgun you with superior rate of fire (less of a problem with the Luna, but then you have to worry about being out-ranged). They're best for ranked modes because enemies are usually grouped up and focusing on an objective that is not you, which makes it easy to pick them off. Custom Blaster is a great anti-sniper weapon, its range usually lets you pick off snipers who think they're high enough that they're safe so they often don't move even if you don't get a direct hit. Luna Blaster is better for one-on-one combat, but it really shines in Tower Control because its range is just high enough that when shot from the ground it can explode in a sweet spot where nobody on the tower is safe. Its ink mine sub is also good for mining the tower to get rid of pesky invaders.

Had a horrible chain of defeats on Bluefin Depot/Flounder Heights. Those two are stages that can swing against you in a moment's notice. Granted, I played out of my comfort zone by trying different weapons, but geez, every so often some squid would squirm his/her/its way to our turf and make last minute inking to set my pieces tumbling. And the stupid urge players have to rush to their doom at the very last minute while not paying attention to the map really upsets me. Good thing it was just Turf Wars, otherwise I'd be rather annoyed. Also don't listen to raditts about the Regular Blaster, the Disruptor sub is awesome in the right hands and the Killer Wail has it's uses, especially when you need to flush out snipers.

All blasters are good and viable weapons. My personal fave is the Custom just because having point sensors makes it extremely easy to pick off people with splash damage. If they come out with a variant with echolocator, I'd probably jump on it in a heartbeat.

Well I'm glad art won splatfest in spite of my efforts, though I will say that if I'm coming in first and second with a goddamn squiffer and the guy with a roller is in last I am probably less the problem than usual. That said I had an absolutely amazing team where I was a new squiffer and everyone else was a splat or krak-on roller and we completely killed it, just a fantastic winning streak. I even sent the most effective one a friend request because it reminded me of why I liked the game so much.

LemonAIDS posted:Rapid blasters are actually really good. Just a higher skill floor. I don't buy this. The fact that they always require two hits makes them inferior to all the other blasters no matter how skilled you are with it. You simply can't kill people as fast as a normal blaster with good aim. There's also the issue that its blast radius is garbage so it can't kill people around corners like the regular blaster either.

You just have to use it very differently from other blasters, more like a squelcher kind of. The tricky part is keeping them at the explosion range. You shoot way faster so direct hits are way easier to pull off even if they don't splat in one hit. And at those ranged if someone takes damage they don't expect a blaster and just barely poke behind a corner so the AoE is definitely enough to kill around corners. I do very well with it, it's just a very different weapon from every other blaster. Imo the worst blaster is the range blaster

Rapid blaster is great as an area control weapon; its real strength lies in its painting ability and making scary-looking explosions that control your enemy's movements. If you're getting close to enemies with it of your own volition, it's just not gonna work out. I thought ranged blaster would be amazing, but if you miss the first couple shots and the enemy closes the gap, you're pretty much done unless you get a lucky last-second bullseye.

That Luna Blaster with splat bombs *makes grabby hands* Luna Blaster's how I jumped up from B- to A, and having a ranged sub instead of the ink mine would be very nice. I keep trying to use stuff other than it, but every time I go on a huge losing streak and kill less than 5 people per game, but I'm normally 9+ kills per game with my trusty Luna Blaster
