FP Week 2 Waiver Wire Rankings. Assuming a ppr league. Cutoff for eligibility is 50% ownership in Yahoo leagues, so if there's any Woodheads or Moncriefs etc still languishing out there in your league, go get em first. Receivers Crabtree – Maybe Oakland is not awful this year?!?!! We’re starting to see glimpses of what made Crabtree a first overall pick. Current stat line is nearly identical to Hopkins’. 24 targets (5th) for 14 catches with 148 yards and a touchdown. Importantly, I think the nature of his targets really speaks volumes – they feel comfortable throwing to him on third downs and even threw to Crabtree on a fourth and one last week against CIN (which he converted). His target share has also increased over the course of games to peak in the third and fourth quarters. Maybe OAK is awful after all, but Crabtree could be a very useful ppr guy. Perriman – Still one of my top targets. Same story as last week – he’s a talented and speedy receiver taken in the first round by a team that desperately needs guys to throw to (this week it was Crockett Gilmore who stepped up, but nobody thinks that’s a pace he will sustain through the season). Flacco has a cannon arm and loves throwing the ball deep, and I think the blazing-fast Perriman is a more likely beneficiary than 36-year-old Steve Smith (who has looked great, but isn’t really a speedster any more). Marvin Jones - Resumed his WR2 spot opposite Green. Expecting numbers similar to Sanu last year is not unreasonable. Though one big difference is they love to use Jones in the red zone. He’s efficient and has reliable hands – in 2013 he had one of the biggest proportion of red zone looks of any receiver in the league. Beasley – Purely a ppr add. The offense will not be great with Romo out, but the only guys to get more than one target from Weeden were Dunbar and Beasley. I think that could be indicative of what the offense is going to look like going forward – short, easy passes in the field, lots of running the ball, and TE plays in the red zone. Washington – 19 targets for 168 yards sounds impressive, but the Texans have been throwing the ball like there’s no tomorrow. I would too if my running backs were Alfred Blue and Chris Polk (Football Outsiders “Worst Running Back of the Week”). Expect a big drop when Foster comes back. But who knows – if you’re lucky he could post a 900-1000 yard season (he’s done it before). Benjamin – Somehow, on seven targets, Travis has 207 yards and 3 touchdowns. Also returns kicks though, so in return leagues you might as well pick him up. Lockett – Return specialist. Don’t pick him up unless your league gives 1 per 25 or better. Others: Rishard Matthews, Hankerson, Ginn Jr. Running Backs Freeman – Coleman looks great but is out with a cracked rib. Could be a multi-week injury depending on pain tolerance. Matt Ryan is pretty good at keeping defenses honest, which could open up some running room for Freeman. I like him if you need a quick plug-and-play, but for long term value I’d go elsewhere (Coleman looked the better runner when he was in). Dion Lewis– Lewis looked fantastic on Sunday. They kept him in as an every-down back, gave him plenty of targets and runs, and he even got a few red zone looks. Despite Belichick’s emphasis on not fumbling, Lewis has now continued getting volume despite fumbling twice, which could mean something (or it could mean nothing because in the nihilistic world of Belichick everything is meaningless). I think he could be a really valuable ppr asset for the season. HOWEVER, all the usual caveats of owning a Belichick back apply. Blount wasn’t in the game plan because the Bills are pretty good at stopping the run up the middle. Is Blount only going to see two snaps against IND? Probably not. Only pick him up if you’re confident you can handle the stress of figuring out the probable game plan each week (much like we did with Vereen). Dunbar – I’m sold. He’s Vereen with a better offensive line. They love using him when going to a tempo offense, and Weeden appeared to feel comfortable throwing to him. He’s the #1 add in ppr if you want long-term value and don’t want to bother with a Patriots back. Matt Jones – Looked great in the timeshare with Morris. This team has been running a lot (despite the time share this week, Morris leads the league in attempts), and this could be a productive 1a/1b type situation. I don’t think Morris’ job is in danger or anything, but if anything should happen to him, Jones could be a high RB2. Ronnie – Rumor has it that CJA is on thin ice. It’s possible that I just kind of want Ronnie to take over from CJA at this point so that we could have a little clarity, but regardless of whether it’s CJA or Ronnie at the helm, I can’t help but think Denver is going to have to move more towards the Peyton system and away from the Kubiak system as the season goes on. It’s pretty clear which one is the more effective offense with this personnel group. Ronnie has the highest upside of any back with a reasonable shot at starting snaps at the moment, so he’s worth an add (especially in standard) if your depth is great and you just want a high-risk-high-reward type guy. Karlos Williams – McCoy looked good against the pats, but Karlos has looked fantastic on really limited snaps. I see this purely as an injury stash – I don’t think McCoy is in any danger of straight up losing his role. BUT, he is already banged up and has an elevated risk of aggravating the existing issue. If he does, Karlos looks like he can bang. Lorenzo Taliaferro (“Zo”) – Back from injury and looks great. The injury stash behind Forsett. More to the point, the injury stash behind a great run-blocking line. Bumped him ahead of Khiry this week. Khiry – Also an injury stash, but the lack of clarity on Brees makes me concerned for the offense. More than capable of filling in for Ingram if anything happens to him. David Johnson – Looks great on very limited volume. Could be productive in a timeshare. But Arians is pretty clear that he doesn’t trust rookies to be the bellcow. He’s adamant that CJ?K be the lead guy while Ellington is out (and Ellington should resume his role as RB1 when he returns). Maybe DJ pushes for a more equitable share, but his ceiling is capped for now. Duke – Still like his long-term outlook. Crowell is the better runner but Duke has nice ppr potential if they ever bother to get him involved. Starks – Lacy isn’t going anywhere. Low ankle sprains are really not that big of a deal for these guys. Lacy should probably play this weekend, and even if he doesn’t Starks isn’t high on my list of starters. I don’t know why everybody is all-in on Starks as the top add this week – it doesn’t make a lick of sense to me. Others – CMike, Zenner (obligatory “Joique sucks” reminder)

I'm aiming for Matt Jones with a healthy chunk of my FAAB this week, and am planning to drop Charles Johnson. Any reason I shouldn't kick him to the curb at this point? My WRs are: Cobb, Evans, ARob, Stevie, Martavis Bryant, Agholor and Johnson Johnson looks like the third of fourth in the pecking order and Norv Turner isn't exactly inspiring confidence.

I grabbed Zo rather swiftly during the week... I was surprised he was available in a 16 team league, but as the Forsett owner I kinda wanted him. I also have a bid in for Lewis... seems to be a good bet for the better run defense matchups NE will have.

It was him or Agholor, and if the Eagles are able to right the ship at any point, I may be able to move him or use him as bye week fill in. Is 51% of my FAAB budget on Matt Jones too much? My RB situation is kind of a mess, so I want to add a high upside RB in the hopes that one blows up. Here is my current roster: CJ Anderson - Still holding out hope he'll bounce back week 4 and beyond JStew - Ugly start to the season, Cam running limits his TD upside Yeldon - Good volume, low TD upside Spiller - Still believe he can be a solid Flex/RB, may need to use him more if Brees is out (.5 PPR League) CMike - Super high upside if he gets a shot in Dallas Otherwise, I'll probably need to trade for Hillman to hedge or package an RB and one of my WRs for an RB upgrade. Edit: I should note that this is a pretty competitive 12-team league, and Matt Jones is by far the top WW pickup this week (maybe Marvin Jones is second?). Pretty much anyone of interest has been long gone. Quarterroys fucked around with this message at 14:39 on Sep 22, 2015 |

I should be trying to divest myself of Brandin Cooks yes? That Saints offense was supremely disappointing even before Brees got hurt. I think I'm going to try offering CJ Anderson/Cooks to a hopefully frustrated Hill/Maclin owner that has started 0-2. Good trade in standard scoring? Or should I be giving CJA and Cooks more time?

I'd like to introduce you all to the "Start defenses playing Chicago" mind set. Chicago has a new GM and coach who want nothing to do with Jay Cutler. They are safe from being canned if they have a bad year. They seem to have no urgency to get their best players on the field. They're starting Jimmy Clausen. Basically, Chicago is executing "Operation Top Draft Pick"
