Will there still be some kind of plot? Like the option to do SoC's main storyline, or CoP's?

Well I'm not really into games that have no objective or end goal. I do like sandboxes where there's a ton of stuff to do and places to explore while trying to achieve something. But I've never understood why people wanted the option to play after the ending of Stalker or the Fallout games, because once you've won, what's the point? Of course for many people running around shooting random things is its own reward, but I'm not one of those people.

COC does have a goal: For non-Monolith playthroughs it's to disable the Brain Scorcher. Can't remember what it is for Monolith.

Ah cool. Basically SoC but without the Strelock stuff and the freedom to go most places in whatever order you want.

I imagine you need to disable the brain scorcher to visit pripyat / the Chernobyl plant itself? Would mean not much reason to actually go there, though can always play with self imposed goal of "now go and kick Monolith's butt".

Keep in mind COC is not just an open world mod, it's also an entire, comprehensive toolset to allow other people to create mods. I imagine within days of an official release you will have some impressive stuff.

It probably wouldn't be beyond imagining that you could recreate SoC in it.

Before the whole leak drama dropped I played a bit of it and it was incredibly impressive. Started off as a loner, took the mission to clear the car park out, on the way someone was shooting at me. Turns out it was a soldier. Plugging him in the face was a big, big mistake as I was chased by a chopper throughout the entire level. Had to hide out in the base at the farm.

Eventually managed to bust through to the garbage, past the military checkpoint and decided to head towards the Bar. Figured it would be safe. It was near nighttime by the time I got there. I saw some figures in the distance and figured it was duty. Turns out it was actually a bunch of bandits that had arrived from the garbage and set up a checkpoint. They started firing at me, so I took cover behind a truck. More shooting, turns out duty had moved in from the north and we caught the bandits in a pincer attack and owned them. Looted all their poo poo, sold it in the Bar (get out of here stalker dude is back) and sat out an emission.

As a minor aside, we have managed to get Stalkers to die in anomalies as they did in SOC.

I'd be down for seeding it.

I'm wondering something though... Did they enable utilization of multiple cores or at least find some way to make the engine not hosed enough?

I'd like someone to put the games Receiver and World of Guns into the game. Or maybe some more gun management..

And not like misery 2.2. Not completely stripping the weapon down. You should only be able to strip a gun down to a field strip and then from there toolkits would have all the nuts, bolts, screws, springs and other spare parts you'd need. And toolkits get used up when repairing, Depending upon the size of the module and the wear it has occurred.

Also it's a simple "wear bar" on the toolkit itself. It doesn't have a set amount of parts, just a general set amount of "repair points".

Another idea from the idea guy with an impossibly big addition... Make spare parts from broken guns be able to "repair" the repair kits. As in you can click and drag a part from a broken gun to the repair kit. Part disappears but the Repair kit gets more points.

Good or bad idea, either way I'll admit a lot of work would have to go into it. I like thinking out loud on active mod communities though.

That would not be beyond the realms of impossibility with what we've got now.

We can already set multiple uses of various items (we use them mostly for packs of cigarettes), so we could in theory have a toolkit (which we already have) have uses tied to how many times you use them and probably the ability to add more 'uses' with spare parts.

I'm not sure how fun it would be, though. Misery already sucks out a lot of the fun of the game with tedious gruntwork, which is sort of something we want to get away from.

Each gun would just have 3-6 groupings.

I'm throwing poo poo out there. Some parts of my ideas don't suck that hard, and you guys are smart enough to reverse engineer the insanity out of it. I love this game's modding community that much.

I'm excited for CoC, but does it use CoP as a base? For some reason CoP runs like rear end on my machine but SoC is great. For example SGM runs at 20fps max and StalkerSoup runs at 60+

I'm playing CoC and the fisrt thing I noticed is holy gently caress the load times are excellent. That, and how desolate it is so far. Remember how we all bitched about CoP being claustrophobic as gently caress and you never seemed to be in real danger? Well, you better loving bring lots and lots and lots of shotgun shells if you plan to go anywhere, because now it's a long way from home. Good luck not getting dead in your search for shiny objects. I hope sleeping bags are a thing, because REDRICK SCHUHART the LONER has come across two beds so far. And for the love of god, avoid combat unless you really, really want to die multiple times.

Also, there is no story so far. There's an objective to disable the Brain Scorcher, but gently caress that. They said all the maps have been reworked and now I'm shooting flesh in the Swamps and probably suffering from a case of the moldy kielbasa shits. Watch someone make some retarded loving main storyline involving Illuminati masonic aliens or something.

But I'm already seeing things that will likely be modded soon:
- weapons wear out at vanilla rates, as in "your weapon is next to useless after one firefight"
- vendors' "gently caress you, ain't buying this cosmetically blemished poo poo" routine is back.
- stashes can be "discovered" in wooden crates and a notification pops up, but they contain nothing.
- mostly vanilla sounds.
This is, of course, not counting any of the Mein Kampf pamphlets, jars of gold teeth, extensive weapon cleaning routines, Counter Strike weapons or bullshitium super soldiers that someone is doubtlessly going to add in soon.

Now excuse me, time to not sleep for a weekend

Pro COC tip:

Open the console, type "fov 75"

You can do this with any mod that uses open X-ray

e: Here's my COC story so far:

Managed to clear out a bunch of military outposts in the Cordon, mainly thanks to other stalkers throwing themselves against the brick wall that is their MGs.

Got a bunch of awesome loot. Decided the best course of action would be to head up to the Bar, seeing as how I got a mission to take out a dude there from Sidorovich.

Getting to the bar was fairly easy thanks to my pimped up stalker suit, abakan and shotgun. Even picked up a few SVDs along the way. Got to the 100 rads and unloaded all my loot. Turns out the guy I was hired to kill was at the bar getting a drink. He had a few friends with him so I decided to try and hire them as companions, take them out to a secluded spot, and take them out. Hired them, took them round the back of the bar, but the dude didn't come along for the ride.

I decided "gently caress this", walked into the Bar and plugged him straight in the face with my shotgun. Entire 100 rads goes into panic mode, the Barkeep runs into the back room, and everyone is trying to kill me. I hide behind the tables and take out the Duty guys. The Barkeep got plugged in the ensuing chaos, so that sucked. I hear more shooting, and what should I see, my two amigos who I hired come running in, guns blazing, and we take out the rest of Duty with a pincer attack. I grab whatever loot I can, give them the best weapons I can find, and patch them up, then we decide to make a break for it into the Trucks Cemetary. Closest place we could get to. We managed to take out a swathe of Dutiers and made it into the truck cemetary, where we had a final last stand against a bunch of bandits and duty guys who managed to take out my crew and finally myself.

COC owns. After modding for so long a lot of the fun of the games isn't really there any more. COC has revitalized my love of stalker.

Probably my #1 thing to change would have to be that vendors won't buy broken guns. Okay, I can accept if someone hands you some completely broken rusted heap that you won't buy it, but a 50% condition gun is perfectly serviceable. Maybe just don't pay as much for something that isn't fresh out of the box? Unless it's to discourage looting every gun you see and hoarding supplies.

Which is some complete bullshit imo, if I don't have multiple arms caches with enough weapons and ammo to overthrow a small country by the time I'm knocking on the NPP's front door I feel I'm playing the game wrong :colbert:

COC will definitely steal the limelight.

God I love it so much. Helps that it is completely freeform so you can do whatever you like. Went to Yantar via Agroprom, helped the ecologists out of a bind. A few of their guys got taken out by a bloodsucker/zombie combined attack. Managed to loot a protecta from one of them :getin:

Before that I had a job to rescue a hostage from the hangar in the Garbage. Took out most of the bandits, saw the hostage there, so decided to release him. Unfortunately I didn't do a great job of clearing out the place since a bandit sprung out from behind some trash and plugged the dude in the head. He died and I failed the mission :(

The AI schemes are great. You often know there's stalkers nearby if you can see a campfire, since stalkers will light them if they're near, so it's a good way to check that there's people there, and you can scout with your binoculars to make sure they're friendly.

Basically it's an ongoing project, adding features to COC that I personally like.

You may not like them, which is fair enough.

Q: What doesn't this do?

At the moment, it doesn't change any weapons. It's not likely to, anyway. I want this to be as modular as possible, and I imagine people have different weapon packs they'd like.

Absolute Nature and other texture mods work with CoC, but I'm not sure if AN covers everything in the mod. Bumping up AF in your card's control panel should go a long way, too. The game looks pretty decent on my end after some tweaking.

I understand that CoC is supposed to be the original stalker experience but until someone makes a solid realism mod I really don't like bullet sponges.

Not just a re-balance that makes weapons equally as deadly to you as they are to the enemy, but a weapons overhaul in general with quality models, skins, animations and sounds that actually match up with animations.

Then again a few people are probably working on that right now anyways. Not a kitchen sink mod. Preferably just enhancing what is already there.
