Yeah, that was weird. Maybe dud primer in a round so it got stuck in the chamber? heat makes the round swell, and basically cooks it off.

That looks like what's happening. Shooter is all "WTF?" there for a moment so he hands it over. Not that it should be really necessary, misfire drill is just to rack the bolt again, or you get the dreaded Wedding Bouquet. Or, in this case, a face full of brass.

At the same time, the instructor racks the bolt back and it looks like an empty casing falls out, like if the gun went off fine but the bolt was stuck forward on the empty round. So the chamber should have been clear. Maybe a link separated with the round still attached and he didn't clear it from the hot gun before it went off?
