Think its a female, but I've had her for about twenty days. Last bird I had was a cockatiel, so I now come here. How exactly do I tell if she's angry or pissy? This is my first time owning a parrot, and she's kind of a bitch sometimes. At least I think she is. Dunno yet. She'll bite you You'll pick it up, but usually their body language will change and become more deliberate, feathers around the back and neck will rise, her eyes will pin, she might strut about a bit, that sort of thing. Like SaNChEzZ said, if/when she bites don't yell at her or shake her or whatever, but put her down on the floor or somewhere boring. Birds don't really understand punishment well (not that it's a good way/not that anyone should train that way, but for example if you yell at a dog it can learn not to do X, bird will just fear you and not link the behaviour with the yelling). If she's tame she'll want to be with humans/you and being away from you on the floor or whatever will be THE WORST THING EVER and pretty effective She may also give warning bites (which could hurt but don't break the skin, just to tell you to go away) or explore with her beak too hard and accidentally bite. For the last making a sort of offended squeak noise (like some people do with puppies, or baby birds do with each other) will let her know she went too far that time. Oh, and start now learning to not react to her screaming and yelling when you leave to try and get you to come back! Tell her "bye bye" when you're leaving for an extended time, and she'll learn then forever know to resign herself to her fate and be chill, and not call out in a furious panic when you go to the bathroom or whatever.

Another cockatiel question. The reason I was looking up the feather stuff in the first place was wondering whether Steve could be a Lutino hybrid after reading some stuff and seeing how he isn't a solid colour over his body-see these photos: http://i.imgur.com/gGwSnr0.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/Sgpma6a.jpg?1 http://i.imgur.com/wj4H4ch.jpg?1 They're not great pictures but if you look hard you can see the yellow markings on the white base, easier to see in the third hue shifted photo anyway I was looking at his feathers earlier and noticed that a lot of them have these markings on them: http://i.imgur.com/Nbd7eoO.jpg http://i.imgur.com/8aqng7v.jpg Again bad lighting etc but see the markings on the right of the feathers? Like spots, or ovals. There's also these little speckles on some others http://i.imgur.com/bzFk7Vj.jpg Are those normal markings? Is he actually a lutino pearl/pied lutino pearl or something? I'm mostly worried that it could be some indicator of the stress/food problem from the vet somehow. He's apparently starting to molt again now so it probably wouldn't have affected the feathers in that time period but I can't find anything to say whether the spots are normal or not LITERALLY A BIRD posted:He seems to be doing better, no visible blood in his stool this morning and he's being (pretty) good about taking his medicine. She had a yellow head and tail but the rest of her was closer to white with yellow markings.

Also, I don't think feathers could suddenly change color from stress since they're sorta just dead protein after the blood leaves them. If you're seeing that pattern on his back (especially on the coverts) it could be pearling, but males usually lose most of the pearling after the first few months. That said they look like the patches of pearling Archer does have left.

I'd rather have him be a special snowflake instead of having anything wrong with him. So looking around he could actually be a pearl lutino/pearl pied lutino? The photos show there is definite barring and yellow markings on him. He does look like the bottom right of this: http://www.justcockatiels.net/uploads/2/7/4/9/2749198/3318662_orig.jpg but also similar to this http://www.justcockatiels.net/uploads/2/7/4/9/2749198/1382269_orig.jpg and that's supposedly a cinnamon pearl pied lutino so who knows really Gallery of doofy example birds http://www.tieltreasures.com/gallery.htm CROWS EVERYWHERE posted:I'm getting a birb on Monday She is yellow with a red face and a blue bottom and I will name her Toast Congrats!
