Freep's religious wing is weird, even for Freep, and prayer warriors might very well be heavily inspired by Dragon Ball Z.

There was local outrage in Sweden a year or so back, where our homegrown brand of freepers freaked the gently caress out about (a single) school serving halal meat for everyone (since it was the cheapest alternative), because eating halal meat automatically turned you into a muslim in the eyes of god. That was seriously what some of them believed.

So apprently one-worlders are Shakespeare fans. I don't doubt that some group, somewhere, is calling for 500 million, but is there any remotely mainstream organization pushing for that number? Apparently Paul Ehrlich's study is one of the more famous ones, and it says that 1.5 to 2 billion people would be Earth's optimal carrying capacity.

He was a devout muslim, but loved his host country, and even went and cooked pork slices (the national dish here in Denmark) for all of us, cursing in beautiful Danish while sizzling pork fat covered his shiny red and white shirt with "Denmark" emblazoned in big fat letters over it. And most of the people who believe this are unsurprisingly fundamentalist Protestants who believe in the 'individual relationship' with Christ, so I have no clue how they think that an individual Catholic praying to Jesus is having those prayers hijacked and redirected to the Sun God Ba'al by a guy in Rome. Antennas possibly.

Was thinking about religious stuff like the whole boobie trapped churches and poo poo. Weird how when an atheist confronts a nutter with something they can't answer they drag out the old one liner "For someone who doesn't believe in god you sure think a lot about it". This should apply to their "Oh noes, another religion's god might get my prayers" you know, aside from the fact they're acknowledging other gods exist

I knew the Black Friday comparison was coming. That said, Black Friday sees one or two people die at different locations each year. The Hajj is always at the same city. You'd hope that might give the authorities an advantage, at least as far as tracking where people are most likely to be injured or killed and allow them to make necessary adjustments.

It's one of the largest crowds in the world trying to complete a religious ritual within a relatively short amount of time. The Saudis have taken a lot of steps towards making the ritual safer, but those safeguards failed this time.
