I did vaguely remember reading that medieval cathedrals after the Hagia Sophia were built in a way specifically to avoid being converted into mosques in the event of sudden Turkish conquest but that probably has nothing to do with what Freep thinks

There was local outrage in Sweden a year or so back, where our homegrown brand of freepers freaked the gently caress out about (a single) school serving halal meat for everyone (since it was the cheapest alternative), because eating halal meat automatically turned you into a muslim in the eyes of god. That was seriously what some of them believed.

Modern flavors of major religions have done a good job rooting a lot of this weird stuff out but believers in the back when times thought a lot of weird things. I knew the Black Friday comparison was coming. That said, Black Friday sees one or two people die at different locations each year. The Hajj is always at the same city. You'd hope that might give the authorities an advantage, at least as far as tracking where people are most likely to be injured or killed and allow them to make necessary adjustments.
