With a collar you should be totally fine. I'm really tempted to get one of his floggers, they look like nice light ones.

Dating myself here, why was the old kink thread shut down? I know it would be tempting for awful troll bullshit, but I'm not sure why a thread of general kinky stuff ie rope, impact play, and power dynamic, wouldn't work.

iirc it was a combination of trolls and the threads rule of trying to be nonjudgmental about everything .

There were a bunch of sequential kink megathreads that went fine. Then the OP of the last one had a meltdown because iirc "how dare a sub girl say no"? So after a few pages of fighting, that was killed. Then when the new one was opened, the then-mod included the rule "no kinkshaming" for the first time, which made incredible gross weirdos come out of the woodwork, so it got shut down fast, mercifully.

I think one like the old ones, basically just "get consent, don't accidentally kill anyone, here's a rope thing on youtube" would be fine as long as the "how can I eat someone alive after marinating in their poo poo" guys were kept out.

More condom talk incoming--I feel so incredibly dumb about my measurements method. I did measure my boyfriend correctly, but I was hell bent on finding a condom that would be the same measurement as his width (instead of searching for something a little wider). No wonder everything that I have picked out has felt painfully tight. I've taken my own measurements before going shopping, so I have no idea how I didn't catch this.

Thank you to the person who mentioned that the length doesn't have to be the same! That's a really good point. I'll make sure to tell him to not unroll it all the way if we end up having to get something longer than him (which it looks like we will, since his width seems to be on the higher end, but his length seems average). I found a width chart on condommonologues.com that I'm going to show him since his width is at the higher end, since he seems really convinced that he would never need anything branded as "large" and I have to fight him tooth and nail to get him to try on anything that isn't like "snug fit" or "average" or something.

EDIT: I feel kind of lovely making him try on larger condoms because I don't want to give him anxiety, but on the other hand, we've had four condoms break because they're too small and my insurance won't cover me visiting my ob-gyn to discuss birth control until November so I feel like it's something that would be less stressful than the alternative...

You don't want something bigger than him (positive ease, in the clothing example), because it will come off and then you'll both be sad. You want something the same size as him or a little smaller (no/negative ease). He doesn't want to be strangled to death, obviously, but the whole point is for it to be snug.

He is larger than average in BOTH measurements. You want the circumference to be slightly smaller at the base than he is. The tip doesn't matter - dicks are typically the same girth all the way through but condoms are wider at the top for comfort.

He needs to stop comparing himself to porn stars. Seriously.

Some advice for you - tell him if he doesn't man up and try some proper size condoms, he's not getting laid. You're going to get pregnant if he doesn't cut the poo poo.

The last kink thread I read had a dude trolling the thread talking about master-slave role play a la the Antebellum South. Partly because of "no kinkshaming," the whole thing kept going until he was talking about making GBS threads on an Abe Lincoln shirt and making her eat it, both the poo poo and the shirt.

This may or may not have been the last thread. When it finally disappeared for good, it burst into flames, was gassed, and reborn, like, three times in quick succession. I almost want to say it all happened in a week or two.

Try http://www.theyfit.co.uk/. If you're in the US/Canada, you'll need to use a forwarding service because FDA regulations only allow certain condom sizes for some reason, but they're approved in the EU. The sizing is intentionally supposed to be random so that if you were to be buying these at a store, the average person wouldn't know what size you're buying, which might help his size anxieties. They are more expensive but might offer the best option between now and November, if they work right.

If I were human, I believe my response would be: 'go to hell'.
I am trying to convince my girlfriend to get an IUD or the slow-release implant thing because her insurance it's hosed so she has to go get a brand New prescription every month for the pill which she then takes but never gets on a schedule cause she skips the placebo pills near the end and then has trouble getting the next month dosage so she's off and on again constantly.

I've heard the IUD is a very popular, reliable, and comfortable option. She is convinced it hurts and gets squeamish when I bring it up.

Anyone have experience with either one or some third option?

There's also the ring, which is essentially the pill but much easier to stay on schedule since you just put it in once for the month, and there's also a shot you can get every 3 months. IUD might be uncomfortable while it's being put in and for a day or two thereafter, but that's it.

My wife loves her IUD (in fact she's on her second) and our friends that have them love them as well. A little bit uncomfortable to put in, and a little uncomfortable for a few days, but not needing to worry about pills for 5 years far outweighs the small negatives.

BITTER POOR PERSON
My wife was initially against an IUD - she went to the GYN seeking a tubal and they gave her the usual run-around about how she actually wants children and will surely change her mind in the next 5-10 years (she was 28 at the time), so instead of setting up yet another appointment to roll the dice with another doctor she went ahead with a Mirena. Two years later she's fully on board and is planning on getting another when this one is up for replacement.

Everyone's experience is different but she has almost zero side effects - she gets a little bit weepy when she goes on her period. But for tradeoff her periods went from 1-2 weeks of heavy bleeding and debilitating pain to next to no/no bleeding for a few days and only minor discomfort.

If you want more information there's a Birth control megathread.

Condom update! I finally asked my boyfriend to try a Skyn large even though it was the same measurement as the magnum, which he said was baggy. He loved it. I guess if anyone else is in a similar situation where the condoms are too small until you add a mm and they're suddenly too large, check the shape of the condoms you're trying. I think what made the difference is that the websites say the magnum flares out at the top whereas the Skyn Large brand has more of a tube shape so it fits him better.

Also, I didn't tell him the measurement of the new condom because I was sort of scared he would refuse to try it on. Afterwards I explained to him it was the same width of the magnum, but without the flare at the top which is why it fit better. I just want to make sure he understands this so he doesn't try buying more of those too-small condoms.

Crazyeyes posted:

The IUD does cause pain for some people when it's first inserted, and a small percentage of the population has really bad pain afterwards--maybe it'll constantly hurt, or their monthly cycles will have intense cramps... :(

A possible third option is the depo shot. I used it for a few months, but stopped because I was gaining weight (which honestly was probably caused by other things). The one problem is that she might have to take time off work to drive to the clinic and get a shot--it's a super short appointment, but I know at least one person who was trying to get an RN friend to administer the shot because missing work for any reason made her nervous. If I weren't dealing with a hereditary hormonal problem and also unable to afford a non-hormonal IUD, I would probably switch to the depo.

My wife had a mirena. She had heavy and painful bleeding and lost patience with it so had it removed. She'd only had it in to try to control her periods as I've had the snip.

Also, the string ends stab into the end of your cock every time you go balls deep so I didn't enjoy it either!

The string softens after a couple of months so that is just a short term issue. The Gyn should be able to trim the string if it is a real problem.

It suits some women and not others. I've had one for years and love it - can't feel anything when it's in and for me insertion/extraction is no worse than a smear test. Also I'm one of the lucky ones who get no periods when it's in. But I know people who had horrible side effects so there's no guarantee.

And I understand the squeamishness thing - I don't have it with the mirena but when I had the implant I hated thinking about it or looking at where it was.
