don't look to Turf War for comfort with Arowana Mall. So essentially the game is telling everyone to take the night off.

Hopefully the mall is the next map to get a facelift, all it needs is another couple of ways to get around the chokepoint and better protection from snipers.

Remove the righthand perches that overlook the center.

Change the ramps that lead to the center into grates with a platform underneath.

It's fine for getting kills, sure, but the map's design is awful for splat zone, since it really just comes down to the last minute or so. It's really really easy to defend the zones once you have control: the zone on your side is super easy for you to get to and super hard for the enemy to get to, so it's no big deal to watch after. Their zone is actually surprisingly hard to them to attack: they only have two ways to engage from - the direct path, and from behind the wall. The direct path is uphill, so you're at an inherent disadvantage right off the bat. You're completely vulnerable to the other side of the gap, and since you need to be firing at your splat zone you need to leave yourself blind to that side entirely. If you take the wall route, you leave yourself wide open and are more or less easy to kill - your only real strategy to not get immediately picked off is to squid to the top of the wall, the ride over to the far side and drop down, hoping you're behind the enemy.

These are all little things, but it adds up to making it very difficult to push a counter-offensive once the enemy has control. Your best bet is usually to do a split attack on both zones, but good luck coordinating that without voice chat. Almost every game I've had on it either one team grabs it at the start and holds it for basically the entire match, or the ownership flips 1/2-2/3 of the way through, and then the other team can't regain control in time to get the lead back due to the time buffering system. I'm in A rank so players aren't phenomenal, but this has been so consistent i think it's just a flaw with the map's design in general.

Don't both buckets kill in two shots? I figure the wider arc of the tri-slosher would make it the better weapon, not accounting for subs.

It has a much shorter range and the arc isn't really a nice neat wedge, it's three discrete blobs of ink.

Topknots are for confident fashionable guys. Like me.

You can hide it anyway by wearing some cap or something that covers it.

Five or six games today I've lost due to a major comeback. My team will get in the lead, stay that way for most of the game, then lose in the last minute. Just lost a Splat Zone match where we had 3 points to go, and the other team had 60~70. :suicide:

I'm having a bit of a weapon crisis. For a while I've used the Tentatek Splattershot, which is a good weapon with good subs, but it's not cutting it for me any more. I can take out rollers and other splattershots pretty fine, but anything that out-ranges me often keeps me pushed back. I've been liking the mini splatling, but its ineffective if someone gets close to me, it takes more shots to kill, and my effectiveness at holding whatever down is more or less determined by whether my team can fight ahead of me. I'm not really sure what to use.

The problem, it sounds like, isn't your weapon. It's your technique. Learn how to be stealthier, and never engage in direct firefights with people who out-range you.

Ranked seems to add a lot more in the way of alternate paths for flanking, which the shorter guns and rollers excel at.

Don't fight enemies from the front. There's no benefit to it. If you get into a fight where you don't have an unfair advantage, just leave. Don't fight it. Come back later.

:yeah: I only got to ranked two days ago but once I realized that mobility is the most important thing for success, always being on the move is making an obvious difference in how I do. Now I'm focusing on keeping a closer eye on the map during matches, that's also helping a great deal.

The trislosher is so fun. I was cleaning up on tower control and splat zones yesterday. Feels like my favorite so far to lay ink down and get flanking. Then popping a bubble and watching people flee - you can drive them right into your teammates. I'm still bad at using the disruptors to best effect.

The stealth aspect is one reason why as a aggressive firefighter I tend to do some smart inking, namely inking entry points, inked walls and such to flush out or expose potential sneaky bastards. Stealth is a big part of Splatoon, but so is countering it.

Man, that's great, I gotta remember to do that. I don't really "get" disruptors but it seems like they'd be pretty good at pinning people in place for follow-up attacks from you or your teammates--which is probably why you see them on fast-firing, short-range weapons most of the time. Disrupt and hit them while they can't move.

I like trying to get a disruptor in as the last thing I do before bubbling, since it refills your ink instantly when you activate your special.

I like tossing a disruptor immediately upon seeing someone. It usually disorients them enough to get an easier kill on them.

Some guy on the new map just grabbing the Rainmaker, running to the ledges near our own base, and jumping off the side. Every. Time.

In one of the matches I played earlier, the Rainmaker got stuck underneath the corner over there and nobody could get it out so they won by default because they were closest, so maybe that's what he was trying to replicate.

I am physically unable to play rainmaker on the bridge. I don't know why, I just can't. Lost almost 60 points of rank in less than an hour. It wasn't even bad teammates, I was just being awful.
