hxh 2011 is maybe the best shonen long series I've ever watched. In terms of pacing, animation, and characters across the whole series I can't think of anything I'd put above it.

If we are talking long running shonen anime I'll toss my hat into the ring for Gintama. Most of the episodes stand alone but they do have regular 6 episode arcs or so. Short enough that they never feel like they over stay their welcome.
