depends how the anime did. sao sells well so they made a season 2 even in spite of the ln existing. it also helps that sao is really popular on western streaming sites, where LNs aren't nearly as ubiquitous.

i dunno, SAO and hack seem like the only MMO-y ones. LH started that way but basically became a fantasy with game mechanic crutches, especially with the NPCs being sentient and having politics etc. Overlord basically used the MMO stuff as an in to make a fantasy that seems to riff more on D&D than MMOs.

Oh I'm just talking about Log Horizon's game mechanic stuff and backstory, not the changes that come after it's made real. I could see all of that being in an actual game, unlike half the poo poo in sword art or basically everything in overlord

.hack is the best mmo show because they don't address game mechanics or any of that poo poo period, whenever they stop having a conversation to go battle or feed grunties or whatever it cuts away to another group of people talking about stuff
