If you're talking about rhythm games from japan, it's because the average japanese person can't grasp the concept of swung notes. Unless they're practiced, or are big fans of a swung style, they straight-lace the hell out of everything. If you're talking about rhythm games from america, it's because they're bad at making them, or they were listening to a different part of the song for that spot, like they rhythm'd to a counter-melody instead of the part of the song people actually pay attention to. Or they're bad games.

Games are bad art. Playing Borderlands 2 with the bf. Games still fun even if the jokes can be really loving bad sometimes.

Propaganda Hour posted:Heroes of the Storm is a lot of fun to start out because it introduces aspects of the game to you at a rate that isn't frustratingly overwhelming or coddling. Unlike DOTA or League you can pick up most of what you need to know about playing the game in a match or two, and the different maps keep things interesting. Yeah I forgot to talk about Heroes of the Storm, it's definitely the easiest to pick up. Matches are shorter and the general mechanics are easier to learn. It's honestly pretty fun.

Unless they're practiced, or are big fans of a swung style, they straight-lace the hell out of everything. There's a comedian who once said something like "White people dance to the lyrics". A lot of Japanese rhythm games - and especially the Miku games and vocaloid ripoffs, have you hit the note in time with the lyrics. GOTY Persona 4 Dancing All Night actually gets it right and definitely has all the hits on the beat, which is part of why it's easily the best rhythm game in a long time. DDR type games aren't actually rhythm games, they're just "memorize this insanely complicated poo poo" games. It's like playing Simon on meth. They don't even try to match anything going on in the song. Rock Band/Guitar Hero obviously try to emulate hitting notes when the instrument you're playing is actually doing something, which wildly varies between songs as to whether it's "on beat" or "just whatever man" except of course for the drums which kinda by definition are always on beat. OK That's my one effortpost for the day, time to kick back and crack a cool Coors sixteen ouncer, maybe watch a little Mork and Mindy on Channel 58.

I know this is a Bowen post, but lmao if anyone thinks hots will have a worthwhile tourney. Also lmao if anyone thinks Hearthstone is fair and/or balanced. And even if it was, look to mtg at how profitable winning card tourneys is. It's not. Of course, as an American I expect to make a cool million in just a few years as a "professional" athlete.

Since it's not hard to master those games I assume you've already done so, so it oughta be pretty easy for you to pick up the $100k from the Hearthstone tournament at least. And there was just a $1 million HOTS tournament which you must have picked up some cash from so

And there was just a $1 million HOTS tournament which you must have picked up some cash from so To be fair, as a long time Hearthstone player a big reason why I don't take it seriously as a competitive game is because of the inclusion of extremely swingy cards, with more being added each expansion. Cards like Ram Wrangler, Tuskarr Totemic, Unstable Portal, Confessor Paletress, etc. can just end the game immediately regardless of player skill or any gameplay up to that point. Those may be bad examples because they tend to not be used much in the higher brackets, but even poo poo like Flamecannon or Brawl can make or break a match without any actual input. There's also the issue with card balance varying wildly because of unforeseen synergies and degenerate combos that Blizzard then basically refuses to fix for months or ever, so a huge chunk of the cards don't get used because they don't cheat enough. Whenever decks are only viable when they can cheat a shitload of value out every play you have a problem with your game's design. It reminds me of the stupid save-or-die mechanics in D&D 3e.

After the success of the Matrix he decided the next time that happened he'd take the role regardless, and that next offer was the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
