For Jake though, you should absolutely have PtL as one of your EPT's, especially with Prockets.

There was some discussion of carrying solutions a couple weeks back, including some really cheap hardware store supply things, is that still pretty much the go-to, or has anyone else come across something they really like using?

I keep all my plastic toy spaceships in the double-sided Plano mentioned in the OP. When I play somewhere I carry my squad, tokens, bases, pegs, everything in a core-set box and put a rubber band around it to keep it from opening in my backpack or whatever. I keep the plastic inserts that it came with so poo poo stays organized. I really like reusing and recycling crap when I can.

I figured it was worth a shot to see if another A-wing at PS9 would be enough to overcome two red dice.

So I got into this game like a month ago and fell hard for it. It's my first tabletop game of any kind and I've already got multiples of everything except for a few scum ships I don't really understand how to fly yet. I'm used to hobbies that cost like 10 times this much so I've resorted to magnetizing every ship, buying fancy 3D asteroids and painted ships on commission haha The game itself was secondary to me originally but I've really been enjoying it too, although I mostly just play with my friends locally. Still getting a handle on things - lately I've been having trouble taking out TIE Swarms with anything that isn't heavy on turrets. Getting blocked a ton is my biggest thing, often I can guess where it will happen but can't figure a way out of it. I guess planning more than one move ahead would be helpful! Here's a pic of how 3D asteroid and magnets can make for some cool game moments. Bonus: Blue Ace is pretty slick, he was able to 2-turn and then 1-turn boost to end up on the opposite side of that asteroid facing the other way the next turn. Just wish he had an EPT slot. (Double Bonus, Jake getting murdered in the background after failing a K-Turn spectacularly)

Are you playing on rubber shelf liner? Seems like a clever way to keep one from poking or bumping stuff. I really like Blue Ace as well. Great pilot to use to introduce new people to the game, so they don't get stuck pointing the wrong direction when they whiff and mis-measure a turn.

Got a casual game in yesterday against a friend. My list: Poe Dameron - Outmanuever Keyan Farlander - B-Wing/e2, Kyle Katarn, Push the Limit 2x Prototype Pilots - Chardaan refit. His list was a Headhunter, a 3-skill pilot in the outrider and another Keyan, though he had Prockets instead of the e2. He had to leave and I ended up winning on points, having taken out the Headhunter and Outrider, but I'm not sure if that would've continued as his B-Wing was mostly untouched, while Poe had 1 hull left and my B-Wing had not shields. I was able to get Poe and the A-Wings up to the Z-95 on turn 1, which seems powerful, but then the A-Wings whiffed, is there a good way to improve this tactic? I like playing aggressively and being able to shoot on turn 1 seems good and fun.

I haven't been following the thread closely and I'm dumb so apologies if this has been asked one million times already, but are the separate force awakens tie/x-wang blisters going to have new pilot cards and equipment that aren't in the Force Awakens Core?

Even with shipping being relatively high to Australia, I still save the cost of the punisher overall. The only problem is I already have a punisher and can't really see what another one gives me. Even two cutlass squadron pilots built as bombers end up running around 30 points each which is most of your list.

Good detail work too, he also made the engine exhaust ports look a little more like they do in the movie. Definitely a silly way to spend money but the results are pretty sweet!

Last night I played two games against one of my favorite guys at the local store. He's a really good player. Has won store tourneys a few times and always places highly. First one, he tore me up bad. He had a list with IG88, some weird Hawk, and a couple of Zs. I could not put a dent into 88. I see why people love them. My 2x Bounty Hunter list with Redline kinda sucked though. Second game, though, went far better for me. I ran a punisher and he let me proxy those Thread Tracers from the wave 8 previews. I stuck two on the punisher with accuracy corrector and autothrusters, and ran a swarm of five PS3 ties with it. He had Miranda with TLT, Poe with all the BB8/PTL shenanigans, and an awing. I cornered Miranda early with some fancy pivoting, and lit her up with the Tracers. Five ties with TL took her down in one turn. After that the game turned into a slug fest. Poe was almost impossible to pin down. I eventually trapped him in a corner. Lost the punisher, but managed to take out Poe. Had three ties left, got the awing for the win. Star of the game was a tie on a short peg. Called him Shortbus all game. He took fire from Poe and the awing for four rounds straight without a scratch, and randomly a few other times. Ended up blocking Poe with him for the other two get the final shots.

Yeah but for some reason the stock Y-Wing looks unbelievably underwhelming. Maybe it is because the Y-Wing model is overly detailed to begin with so any smaller version will look underwhelming unless it is also ridiculously over detailed as well.

Probably partly that. The original X-Wing is pretty bland as well. I think it's just that they weren't at 100% for that first wave as they figured out the design process most likely.

It was about $80 so yeah, you could have that or deploy 8x regular Y-Wings instead! Like I said, it's a silly way to spend money but that's cheaper than some days at the range I've had and you don't get to take anything home from those except memories. Here's a TIE Phantom he recently did as well, also with tiny pilot although it's hard to see since the cockpit is semi-opaque. The guy at imagereplicas is probably the best guy I've seen but his stuff definitely doesn't come cheap. In non-model news, I tried out that list with Guri/Decoy & Boba Fett with Bodyguard & Serissu against a friend the other day. I ended up winning but mostly because of really hot dice. I'd never flown a Starviper or an M3A before - it seems like the main thing with that list is flying in close formation while still trying to close to range 1 of the enemy? Or do you just do that when it's opportune but otherwise tend to split up?

I've seen a few of that guys ships selling on eBay. I'm kind of blown away at how he manages to make actual cockpits with translucent windows on those tiny starfighters.

That phantom is sexy as hell. I love it! Also, let's say someone wanted to fly two Firesprays in the same list. Imperial or Scum, doesn't matter. How would I kit them out? Who would fly, with what? Would we fill it out with a TIE or a Z95?

I'd probably fly Scum, with the following for gently caress-everything-I-have-mines action. Emon Azzameen (36) [50] Andrasta (0) Ion Cannon (3) [What better way to force your opponent to hit your mines?] Intelligence Agent (1) [likewise] Seismic Charges (2) Cluster Mines (4) Connor Net (4) Boba Fett (39) [50] "Mangler" Cannon (4) Engine Upgrade (4) Predator (3)

ConfusedUs posted:That phantom is sexy as hell. I love it! You could do Imperial with 2x BH and one elite-ish pilot as well. 34 points would let you bring Carnor with AT/Stealth/PtL. Probably better off going Boba/Kath in Scum. Or Emon like Strobe suggests. I think for Boba though I'd skip the cannon and give him a crew like Recon Specialist and maybe Inertial Dampers or find a way to fit Glitterstim. You can also take the Slave 1 title on Emon, which saves points but limits you to 2 of the same bomb, depends on taste there and whether you have something else worth spending points on.
|
# ? Oct 10, 2015 01:39 |

The cannon on Boba was just for the crits, and because HLC was too expensive. If you drop the cannon, I'd go with swapping the Intelligence Agent to Boba, adding Glitterstim to him, and then giving Emon a Bombardier, so you can get the glorious options of using 1, 2, or 3 forward, and both hard 3 templates.

I like that too, IA is really underrated. Boba with PtL is also nice for the boost/focus or focus/evade combo against lower PS ships. You won't end up Pushing as much against PS 9 opponents, but it still comes in handy for those turns your making a hard turn and have nothing in arc. Focus/Evade and turtle up in your large based ship.
