Yeah, just looking at them now I can pick up all of them for ~$300, shipping notwithstanding. I'll do that instead.

Incidentally, I opened a Windswept Heath expedition yesterday, should I tuck that away for a little while now that the pre-release gold rush has slowed down? I've got a deck I could put it in, so I'm in no rush to offload it.

Yes. If there is one thing I have learned about rare, neat, expensive cards is that if you don't need to sell it and you can play with it, you should keep it until one of those two changes.

For 400 I think you could likely get a playset of the original Onslaught versions of those fetchlands, really.

If you look around for deals you can still find them. I got a playset of Polluted Delta for less than $80 the other day, and that's the most expensive one. Mire, Foothills and Heath are all in the $10-15 range.

Flip it now. More are getting opened that people realize. And ones without Blue in them are not as popular with the Vintage/Legacy crowd who are willing to spend the retarded amount of money for those cards.

So it looks like I'll be participating in a Vintage Rotisserie Draft on Saturday ... The last time I did it, I went in hoping for Grixis Delver and got shut out of that quickly, moving to a Dead Guy Ale brew that saw moderate success.

WHAT SHOULD I RUN?

I was thinking of not going fancy with big power plays, with a couple of easy to insert 'Oops I Win' combos ...

Going into a draft with a specific plan seems like a bad idea but I would draft the everloving gently caress out of storm because all of the picks are bad for other people and there's a lot of late enablers like Grinning Ignus, Carpet of Flowers, etc, that nobody is going to touch or even remember.

Worldgorger Dragon combo. Fight everyone for power and tutors, then late in the draft grab all the redundant combo pieces that nobody else will want. Not sure what would work well as the win condition though.

Either burn or infect, depending on how late you are in the pick order. If you're early, you can afford to fight over blue for a few picks, then veer hard into infect. If you're late, just take mox ruby->lightning bolt and never look back.

The skin on the hand is too loose, it looks like leather or fabric. There's also no texture: no veins, hair, or pores. The knuckles are wrong. The choked person's hand is also textureless. Actually, all the skin looks like plastic. The choked person's eyes aren't shadowed to look like their in any sockets, the hair is wispy and looks like there is movement but the actors look still. The blade looks paper thin without a handle or an edge to it. His teeth look like one big mass. Actually, the only thing with texture is Ob Nixilis' armor and the wall.

Rinkles posted:

I disagree. The shading is missing on some parts, there's a lack of texturing on most everything, and there's a lack of anatomy in Ob Nixilis' hand. The guy's tentacle chin looks like rubber.

It's designed to look good at 2" by 3". That's why you can skip subtle things like that. In fact, you often want to accentuate contours by not shading things in order for them to pop at smaller scale.

What is a top loader? Is it the plastic box thing that cards come in when you buy them in bulk from starcity?

Would it be a bad idea to mail cards to starcity in the box they send you?

EDIT: VV Right, see I did that, but it is kind of hard to get a good idea of what something is through a photo, when it is made to be translucent.

Are the images there thick sleeves or is that what a top loader is? It kind of looks like a deckbox. It might just be that my eyes suck, but the reason I am asking here is because I cannot tell what a toploader is based on the images I have seen of it in google... :(

I'm looking at the timg of the image and his hand still looks boneless and the knife still looks wrong. And the hair still looks weird. I'll give the skin texture and eyes a pass.

It's also a valid criticism since there are artists who do cards that make artwork look fine regardless of size, this one is just lazy.

I'd take "It's supposed to look good in 2x3", but the reason I posted it was because it was from Wizards's own Magic Tumblr account. I get that it's an(other) ad for the game, but was that the art they're really proud of?

Is Brian Demars's land base for his atarka list.

I only have 1 mire and access to 1 heath. I do have 4 cinder glades and all the foothills though. His only green cards are Atarka's Command (4 of course) and 3 Become Immense. Assuming I can fish 2 more Become Immense out of my box over there, how would you guys build that mana base? Just fill in with mountains? More Cinder Glades seems like it could be bad as you'd hate to get stuck with one of those in an opening hand most likely.

Interesting sideboard too. I don't have any hangarbacks yet and only 1 Thunderbreak Regent, but it seems pretty easy to find fill ins there.

Edit: He also runs 4 Zurgo? Not 3?

The more I think about it I'm really not sure what to play in standard now. I was playing u/b thopter control previously but losing darksteel citadels and instant speed unconditional removal really hurts the deck. There's few artifacts i'd be happy including to make sure the thopter spy networks make thopters, and doing so means I'm replacing useful cards with poo poo artifacts just for the sake of enabling spy network.
I've looked at going esper instead but while the mana base is easily there i'm not really convinced the deck gains anything without scrapping everything and just running esper dragons, which i'm not as keen on.
