Skandranon posted:I think I saw in one of the Tips it mention the name of the specific clan that is attacking Ubersriek. Don't remember the name, but it wasn't the big 4. They may have created a "Skaven Undivided" type clan to allow for having both rat ogres, globe throwers, and gutter runners all at once. In the bio for the pack master. "Packmasters are Clan Moulder troops tasked with driving packs of ravening beasts into battle, using whips and intimidation to spur their charges into a frenzy of teeth and claws. However, the Packmasters hired by Clan Fester in their assault on Ubersreik, are predominantly equipped with things-catchers, a pole arm designed to incapacitate opponents by strangulation. It is still unknown why Clan Fester has paid the extra warpstone tokens for this somewhat unusual specialization."

Oh drat, this game is actually coming out by late october. I thought it was going to be another Steam Early Access thing, guess I am no longer used to games simply coming out.

I've been in the beta since august and just noticed this thread. I can confirm that this game is loving sweet.

My recent string of pubbies has been pretty sad tonight. So anyone up for some last minute Skaven fighting before the beta ends? (I'm in the goonintide group if that helps)

Had a really good team tonight that got both Grimoire and all three Tomes. I ended up with a blue axe for the dwarf

Being one short of getting your first legendary item really sucks after getting both grimoires and all 3 tomes. Man, Sword/Shield + Handgun is an amazing loadout for Kruber. Sword/Shield makes short work of even huge hordes focusing on you, and the Handgun one-shots basically any special. Dezztroy fucked around with this message at 14:11 on Oct 7, 2015 |

I'll probably pick this up just based on preview and beta footage I've seen. Especially considering its sub 30 bucks on preorder. No versus is kind of a bummer but there seems like there's enough to do on the coop side and a stiff challenge available on the higher difficulties. I wonder how much of the old L4D2 crew will show up for this.

I wasn't sure on the game before playing the beta, but it really sold me. Shame there's no 4-pack though.

Yeah, this beta's made me way more excited for the game and a $30 launch tag seems more than fair.

I love that fact that I can be useful (even the linchpin of the team) with sword and board, since it's also a sort of taunt. The dwarf has to be my favorite character in the game so far. His starting weapon is satisfying to butcher rats with, and he's a one-dwarf shield wall. My Bright Wizard friend gets to just go hog wild while I take the hits. I can tell the wide open maps like Machines of War are going to be the biggest issue on Hard and above. There's so much space between choke points that your team pretty much has to all be on board with sprinting from one to the other. Teaching pubbies to go to defensible positions and wait out hordes is going to take a lot of time and patience. In places like Horn of Magnus, it's not such a big deal because you can just duck into a one of the plentiful peasant broom closets and negate most of what the game can throw at you. In my efforts to make the Waywatcher a bit less boring for me, I'm trying to switch out as many weapons for her as I can. A new, slower, more powerful bow has helped a little, making me feel like a special-rat sniper instead of Random FPS Hero. I haven't found anything to replace her dinky little daggers yet, but I feel that will go a long way toward making her feel more fun for me. Even if i'm not successful, I think I'll never have to worry about playing her anyway, since she's loving catnip for the xxxDARKASSassin420xxx type players.

I like Lady Legolas, her daggers or sword/dagger combo can easily butcher dozens of slave/clan rats in seconds. The swipes do extra headshot damage, and are fast and go side to side, so hitting the heads is easy. With some of the different bows available, she becomes much more interesting. The longbow will bodyshot most rats, so you don't have to only go for head, and can 1-2 shot most specials, which can be really important with things like gattling rats or stormvermin. Her poison one seems to do a lot of damage to rat ogres, though I haven't tried it yet.

I like Lady Legolas as well. Her dual swords are really good, as is the longbow. Poison arrows seem okay? Not as good against Stormvermin but it's nice to be able to kill gunners and such while being in cover. Also she and fake Gimli have a LotR reference in their banter.

I've spent the most time playing bright wizard but waywatcher is probably my second favorite class followed by witch hunter. Only cute little banter I've noticed from bright wizard is some stuff with the Witch hunter. Something about being her jailer. So is there a steam grp up already?

i was playing the dwarf and chucked a grenade so badly it flew off and hit nothing, and the fire mage told me that took real skill to hit nothing at all. the dwarf retorted by claiming he wasnt drunk enough to aim properly. e: you will also be yelled at for jumping too much

The story goes, the Witch Hunter has arrested Bright Wizard and is escorting her somewhere, and has hired Soldierman to help. They are in their way through Ubersriek when poo poo hit the fan. Also, there is an elf and dwarf. There is a Steam group up, Goonintide, check the OP. If you have suggestions for sprucing it up with pictures or whatnot, let me know and I'll make you an admin.

My one worry is the game won't ship with many levels and we won't see many as paid DLC either. Payday 2 maps are reasonably small, usually a bank or a building of some kind, L4D and Vermintide are long in comparison.

I really like the Tome/Grimoire system, as it lets you do some fine grained difficulty management. Once the game is out for a few weeks, everyone will know where they are, so it will be a choice to get them or not. If you are running with a crappy group, or your luck has just been terrible, you can skip getting the grimoires.

One of the nice things is they have ample options for free DLC, like adding new traits or weapon types. They can also add new characters for cheaper DLC, and full blown maps for more expensive DLC. Later on they could do something like add skill trees to do a whole 2.0 overhaul, etc.

They can add whatever the hell they want as DLC so long as it doesn't split the community (maps) hell they could copy Payday 2 and I would be fine with that. And if they wanted to actually make money they would release a mercenary skaven as a new player class.

Seems like they are trying to keep vastly different silhouettes for classes in the game (which is good for accessibility). Dwarf Slayer with a humongous mo-hawk or maybe another Elf character like a White Lion could make for some awesome DLC. Elpato fucked around with this message at 06:59 on Oct 8, 2015 |
