I just saw Attack on Titan about an hour ago. It is more batshit insane than you can imagine. My sister and I were both amazed that something like that got shown at a non-art theater in the US.

If you watch The Ten Commandments today you'll realize that all the main stars are fantastic and the extras and side actors are total and complete garbage, it's hilarious.

I absolutely love the fact that there will be a Coen brothers movie starring two of the greatest stars of our lifetime, Dolph Lundgren and Christopher Lambert.

It really is a composite of poo poo we know the Coen Bros. love: * Old Hollywood * Kidnapping * Neo-Noir * Some similar actors-- Clooney, McDormand, etc. * A tone so comedic it borders on spoof But gently caress if I'm complaining. They do that poo poo really well. LORD OF BUTT posted:February isn't a dumping month anymore as of this year. Every time I watch a repeat viewing of a Coen Brothers comedy it gets better. I love Intolerable Cruelty but didn't until like the third time. I disliked Big Lebowski on first viewing and now it's practically comedic legend. I'm in for Coen Bros every time.

I love Coen trailers though because they're not about showing you the plot, but showing you the characters and the mood. Speaking of, do they have final cut on trailers or do they cut them themselves? You know, kiimo?

I'm not sure on the Coen Bros specificall. Usually the editor, producer and the client usually all meet at a finishing house. One for the mix, one for the DI. That's color correcting and sound. The client has gotten it approved by the filmmakers and the studio before you go into finishing. The producer and editor do not have final say, the filmmakers sign off on a late version and everyone agrees as you go. It's collaborative, excepting the rare times when the filmmakers actually make the trailers. Like Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Sometimes they argue and don't agree and it's a nightmare and you end up doing 50 versions of a trailer before it's done.

Thanks, that makes sense for the majority of trailers. It's just Coen trailers are usually (always?) about setting, mood, and characters – but they don't tend to explain the entire plot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iggyFPls4w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9yXzos_ZJE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpdOXSEkvO8
