While the Faulconer soundtrack is alright, it's definitely way less interesting than the original Japanese soundtrack from a musical standpoint, and I'm pretty sure most of the people who prefer it do so due to nostalgia or something. And this is coming from someone who originally watched it with the Faulconer soundtrack and had never heard the Japanese one until recently. I mean, it definitely has some good tracks and it's better than the soundtrack to most American cartoon shows, but the Japanese soundtrack is used much better and actually makes me think "this is a pretty good soundtrack" instead of just not really noticing it at all as is the case with the Faulconer stuff.

Someone mentioned the Japanese soundtrack being better suited to DB but not DBZ due to enemies like Frieza and Cell. Not quite sure what they mean by this, since the enemies of both DB and DBZ are equally goofy and certainly not "hardcore." The whole series is like a tokusatsu show in terms of seriousness/tone.

Bruce Falcouner score beats out everything in the original except Unmei no Hi, though I agree that the music placement is bad.

I have no idea what the original track with it in is called but there's a leit motif in the Japanese OST I can never get out of my head but it's on the character select screen of Budokai Tenkaichi 3

That poo poo is my jam.

I can't really stand Faulconer but I can see why a lot of people are really into it.

The original OST has TOKU SENTAI! TOKU SENTAI! TOKU SENTAI! too so it's the best.

Yet where is that woman now? Tell me, in what heave does she reside? None of them. Because no God bothered to listen or care. If that is what you think it means to be a God, then you and all your teachings are welcome to do as that poor women did. And vanish from these realms forever.

Wait, when did the hive-mind decide that Faulconer was terrible? The last two threads had everyone praising his score.

I can't keep up with trends anymore.

Different people can have differing opinions on things. Also, I always remember some back and forth on things related to specific dubs.

Unless I'm missing something, this is an instrumental version of Cha-La Head-Cha-La. Unless you mean a particular section in this music, in which case you'll have to provide a timestamp or something.

I like the tune that plays during the episode title in Faulconer's score, but in general the original soundtrack is way better. I tried to actually watch an episode with Faulconer's soundtrack and it was painful. Shut the gently caress up, music.

Yup. Shunsuke Kikuchi is a veteran composer, and he's done a lot of high profile work.

Sadly, Kenji Yamamoto did have some contributions to the original score - he "wrote" Battle Power Infinity, the song that plays when Future Trunks slices up Frieza. It came out 20 years later that he plagiarized the song from some German synth pop band lol

It's funny that he only got caught after messing with scores from big name American movies.

Just so you guys know, whenever you talk about "Bruce Faulconer's soundtrack", you really should be calling it "Team Faulconer's soundtrack" instead. Bruce Faulconer himself was a dishonest taskmaster who only composed a small fraction of the actual score, and had three young guys called Mike Smith, Julius Dobos, and Scott Morgan compose most of the score. After that, he just left their names off the credits, claiming that HE was the only one to compose any tracks for the series.

it's actually not too shabby, the VAs they used sound pretty close to the Funi ones, the only issues are they didn't use a raw for their source (so there's still subs that sometimes don't match what's being said) and the audio quality is not great

Yeah sorry the japanese soundtrack is pretty poor compared to Faulconer team's tracks then still. The only thing they screwed up was how it was inserted into the show sometimes because they were so afraid of silence but the music when hitting the high notes like Gohan transforming where so much better. Really disagree with team 4 star about that.
