Yeah, it's just a repackage for bases. I believe it was noted in the sales sheet that went out to indies.

I figured since the photographed models seems to be on bigger bases. I did get a bunch of base extensions last summer so that I could have all of my infantry be on 32 mm bases instead of 25 mm bases since they look like they're barely able to stand on the base. That little bit of space makes them look so much better.

Yeah, I'm all for the larger bases. The way they were introduced was classic GW, but the idea itself is completely sound.

I started with the 32mm bases so any time I buy a kit with the small ones it seems really weird.

The 25mm really were just far too small for a marine.

GW does sell bags of 100 32 mm bases for $40 on their online store. You even save $10 on that bag of bases than you would buying ten sets of ten at $5. They're nice to have for when you buy a kit that only comes with 25 mm bases.

Yeah I'm going to pick some 50mm ones up for my XV8s as soon as I can confirm that's what they're on.

Did some minor Photoshop conversion, and I like the model a lot more.

- Ditched the tiny head.
- Recolored the main center panel to be the new "head" focal point.
- Added armor covering the operators.
- Added a lens/sensor to the left "shoulder".
- Moved the burst cannon to the center of the suit instead of dangling off one side.

Boom, I think it's easily twice as good-looking now.

Just a heads up, you should bake that sand to kill any bacteria in it. There's probably shitloads since gross kids are gross kids and probably pooped in it or whatever.

Marines still feel okay on 25s to me but that's also largely because I wasn't gonna go ahead and rebase my Dark Angels on them, and 32mm bases don't fit the early 90s aesthetic of my Ultras. I'm using them on the Nobz for my Blood Axes though and they're sweet. 25s were way too small for Nobz.

The previous kit had weaker ankles than Axl Rose. That also gives a pretty good sense of scale for the big stealth suit too.

They look much better. Still a bit stumpy, but I'll gladly take them.

No, they're not. They resculpted and made new molds for (very nearly) the same hot piss Crisis Suits. Crisis Suits are really cool, why not make models that don't look like boiled rear end in a top hat? The commander suit looks okay other than the anime angel wings. I even think the giant suit looks okay, just not in this absurd imitation of the OG paint scheme.

I just realized that the Storm Surge has a vision slit copied from a Hammerhead... and it doesn't line-up with the pilot duo.

So, what rule set can I bring my painted, over-priced trash to? There's KoW for people that got burned by AoS, is it okay to use Eldar Guardians to represent The Defiant or a Tie Fighter?

Buy the forgeworld suits then, but I'm glad I can buy the new suits and not have them stand out like a sore thumb in my current army, while being more poseable and overall better kits.

I think the design is great, if anything is "boiled rear end in a top hat" it'd be the box on legs dreadnought at this point.

I'm certain if the suits were redesigned there'd be a post going "omg making people rebuy their units again because they don't fit aesthetically"

^^Many Heresy models are already coming with 32mm bases, and it's what I'm using with all of my dudes.^^

Does anyone have a suggestion for a better bit to use for this guy's sword arm? He's going to be my Praetor, and I like the idea of keeping to the Eldar weapon theme I'm hinting towards in my army but most sword arms don't mesh well with the model's pose. I like the arm he has now, but I want to make sure that there's nothing better before I go ahead and firm the model up.

It'd be cool if plasma pistols conferred some additional close combat bonus, like +1 S or something (though that might be too much). As-is they're just really, really bad.

We're giving them assault 2, dropping the price to 5 points, and allowing them to count as a specialist weapon in close combat.

I feel like any one of those things would probably be enough of a buff to get people to take them in normal 40k. All of them together feels a bit busted.

On a side note, my wife and I are stuck at home waiting for her to go into labor and I'm getting an absolute ton of painting done in the meantime. I may even post my Sternguard when I finish them.

I think we'll play test it. In 30k you can already take photon gauntlets: 5 points, same range, AP2, assault 2, and blind (so its pretty good). Combi weapons cost 10 points, but you have an extra 12" of range. If you upgrade a sergeant with a specialist weapon you're looking at 15 for a single and 20 points for a pair, so 5 points for an extra attack is the exact same ballpark.

At this point its a weapon worth considering. We could allow people to choose a single shot at AP2 or two shots at AP3. This would take it down a little bit, but still make it useful.
