I bought a game from G2A and when I downloaded it the game came out of my computer and it stabbed my cat and then Steam took the game away from me.
Or I just can't buy things from G2A in the first place because my bank card blocks transactions from the site anyway and I have to call them up to let them authorise it.

Having said that - has anybody tested the mod scene? I'm really lookig forward to somebody who knows what he's doing redoing the inventory.

Done with Satellite Reign. It's uh... I had fun with it, but I'd like to warn people about how buggy it can be. Just be careful if you're considering the title.

I have had escort targets somehow not understand how to climb down a vent and instead clip into oblivion. Or they'd get through one just find and not be able to get through a second one. Same deal with doors that connect two places to each other.

One time, one of my squad decided to fuse with a wall and refused to move. Another time, everyone's pathfinding broke and they couldn't navigate a simple walkway, I assume this was due to the height and how it was near the edge of the map. Navigating can be iffy since cover spots, in addition to pathfinding, can be occasionally inconsistent.

Enemy AI can break, causing them to stay in place, group together into a gigantic cybermass, and other things that I can't remember anymore.

Or how cameras respawn making some of the No Big Brother achievements impossible.

I've also seen my Soldier guy fall out of the map and die during the final battle. And then he respawned out of the map once to die again, I think.

Despite all of that, the core game is quite fun. I enjoy hacking enemies into becoming a part of my army and shooting/stealthing my way through with my augmented jerks. Grenades and rockets are pretty sweet. However, those bugs are horrendous and seem to come out more and more as you near the end of the game.

Bidiots is, like, a bit complicated for a party game. I guess it could be fun if everyone takes a minute to get the rules down before starting, but "making profit off auctions by artificially inflating prices and then tricking/forcing other people into buying overpriced product" is not as pick-up-and-play as their other stuff. It's also less fun in that you draw stuff but it's not as goofy as Drawful.

For those who bought 7.62mm you might want to try the Blue Sun mod. It's made by a goon and assuming it's still up-to-date eases the player into the game much easier that hard life; at least it was last time I played it. Hard life is nice but it has a kitchen-sink approach to content and you get everything both bad and good and with a game like 7.62mm more doesn't necessarily translate into better.

Also ignore the store page about the improved English translation. Nothing outside of a miracle can save that script so be prepared to just have a base understanding of what the gently caress is actually going on while the words, "oval office", "gently caress", and "poo poo" are strewed all over.

I'm bad because I said bad words about The Witcher 3 and its main character, Geralt of Rivia, at a time when everyone in this thread wanted to fellate Geralt of Rivia because The Witcher 3 had just come out. Mostly I just wanted to complain about some of the game-breaking bugs that I had experienced and the shittiness of the previous games (especially the first one) and that makes me a monster

But apparently the developers agreed with me because The Witcher 3 was patched so that A) the game-breaking bugs that I experienced were fixed and B) several of the more annoying systems (like inventory) were fixed to be not annoying anymore, resulting in a game that I actually enjoyed playing. But the damage was already done, now I'm apparently a Witcher 3 Troll or something even though it's a game that I liked playing and I no longer have anything negative to say about it, I guess because people in the Steam thread develop serious emotional attachments to video games and the gruff male protagonists portrayed in them

tl;dr if the Steam thread is circlejerking over a game and you have something negative to say about it, like a bug complaint or maybe you just dislike the gameplay or something, either keep your loving mouth shut or be ready to face an onslaught of trolling accusations

Also The Witcher 1 and 2 are legitimately great games so... hth.

So I've been playing Transformers Devastation a bit, and I'd like to tell you guys that it's a pretty great game.

So that's what I'm going to do.

It's a platinum game, the gold standard for beat'em ups. There are 5 characters with unique special moves and Car Attacks. They've taken a lot of the good things from previous platinum games, (witch mode, parry attacks, getting sick nasty combos and dynamic music.) They've created a great product with little to no fan fare.

The item creation system is a bit basic for my tastes, as it stands now you put throw away items into your main item, and then pick 3 / 4 abilities. The fourth based on other weapons you've synthesized into the original weapon. It's actually kind of fun though, and gives you something to do with all the random trash you have. You'll still be carrying around a pretty big arsenal, and it'll warn you if you're about to synthesize something you have on another dude.

Grimlock is in this game, he is a dinosaur. Instead of turning into a car, he turns into a fire breathing T-rex, it is actually pretty close to as awesome as that sounds. His gameplay style is very different from the othre four, but if you're good at platinum games you'll be good with Grimlock or anyone really.

The voice acting is the original 80s cast for all except for one guy who isn't around anymore.

It does have flaws, the majority of the systems are pretty obtuse, and rely on you knowing how to play a platinum game. The tutorial mission was a little hard for me even though I had just came out of revengeance. There are stats and I'm still not quite sure how they work, but eventually you can max everything with everyone, so I'm not too worried about it, and it seems your weapon stats matter more.

All in all, I'd definitely recommend getting this game, maybe not at $60 but you can find coupons for GreenmanGaming, and I think some steam coupons are rolling around. I'm personally happy with my purchase, and the game is definitely going to be something I'll be playing over a few times.

Witcher 1's jank was pretty bad but I powered through it with the help of some mods that fixed some of the issues.

Stash in your inventory, campfire anywhere, cat's eye on and off without a potion (not really needed honestly) and that one where Geralt runs like 20 times his normal speed so you can just get from point a to point b and not be bogged down in the swamp. The speed reverts to normal when you go into combat.

Combat sucked til Igni was buffed all the way. After that everything burned.

Two worlds was one of the alternatives at the time, so it's slightly damning with faint praise, but I don't get a lot of the hate around Witcher 1. Janky in places, but not outright bad. Very enjoyable once you get past a couple of the more annoying sections, like the hellhound.

Witcher II likewise had a couple of bullshit sections; timing the dragon just right was way more finicky that it should have been, but it was a very solid RPG.

It should be pointed out that I've tried to get on with 'Gothic', but I just can't.

I think Witcher 1 was better written and had more complete systems, but not as cinematically refined.

Mass Effect 2 was better than either of those, however. Although I think Witcher 2 was better than ME2 overall, ME2 was FAR more enjoyable. Holy poo poo, the opening still is one of the best things out of videogames (from my memory).

I think that the gameplay in both of those games was way better. Mass Effect 1's writing wasn't superb or anything, but I'd much rather play that than trying to work with the combat system in The Witcher.

I don't understand this post. Shouldn't the better game be the one that you enjoyed playing more?

But since we were originally talking about "best in that year" anyway (Mass Effect 2 came out a year earlier than Witcher 2), the better comparison might be Witcher 2 and Skyrim. And I think that those are pretty much on par with each other; The Witcher 2 had more complex systems, but Skyrim gave the player more agency. And if you include mods, I'd say that Skyrim is the better game overall

e: And I say that despite disliking the trend toward massive open world environments

Yeah, I got so far with Risen and decided that it was too railroady, particularly after spending all my money trying to beat that one swordsman in the swamp. Risen 2 was just really drat slow, and had that set of natives in the middle of the first Island with the instakill darts. With both games I was never entirely certain with what I should be doing.

Witcher 1 definitely tried to give you choices that went beyond 'good/evil', which is something that they've carried on to the extent where you're given a choice of two subtley different poo poo tacos, and they don't try to enforce the witcher neutrality.
