Deron, so intense!) is an anagram of Canderous Ordo? And Sano Thrica is Carth Onasi, of course. ...Kurse seems to be the odd one out there unless I'm forgetting something.

Beniko -> Kenobi While I don't know much about the expanded universe, I doubt there's an Anal Kenobi however.

Fuzz posted:Yeah, the SW overall has the vibe, but in several places (particularly LS SI conversations with Ashara) the SI straight up breaks the Star Wars paradigm over its knee, and it's one of the reasons I don't get why people are so sore on the SI storyline, but I guess you'd miss all that if you play DS because hoooooly poo poo DS SI is a cartoonish psychopath. I maintain that the SI storyline is a dumpster fire, but the SI characters are great.

CharlieFoxtrot posted:How long does it take to do an individual companion's quest line (to fill in that checkbox on the legacy screen)? I read some tip in the other thread not to talk to any of the companions while leveling to min-max their affection later, which probably also means I missed some big chunks of character development story-wise. I need to do those before the expansion drops... You can get up to 8k affection with rank 1-2 companion gifts from the vendor on Fleet, which for min-max purposes you can do as soon as you get them before you start talking. Since conversations are gated by main story progress there's no need to avoid talking to them, just have a chat afterwards whenever one unlocks. Aside from the more expensive gifts, a cheap way to finish up the last chunk of points is Belsavis daily quests but it is likely rather late for that; for some companions you can speed run Black Talon/Esseles and False Emperor for points.

Really I'm just surprised that with all the Beniko and Theron banter they didn't make an Archer "Danger Zone" gag. I mean, a woman named Lana hanging out with a superspy? It's low-hanging fruit.

Both are also hilariously evil characters if you go DS. Take your pick or make two of each.

Marr basically is the LS Sith Warror, something he even sort of points out if you're an LS SW and do the SoR stuff... he specifically says that you're not that much different from him, and he knew the two of you would see eye to eye when he calls you the Empire's Wrath. Eh calling Marr Light Side is a bit of a misnomer...he's just more pragmatic lawful evil than the cackling "gently caress you got mine" neutral evil Sith like the DS Inquis or Palpatine. He is definitely bloodthirsty and loves war, specifically murdering the heck out of the Republic and Jedi. In the comics he also drove a Moff who had lost a battle to suicide just by showing him his face.

If he gets to be in charge by being nice to people, he's all for that. If he has to step over some corpses he doesn't mind that. But the fact that he is willing to be nice to people is a big step up and makes him interesting. Also the whole hatred of the Jedi thing is still kind of justified even for a LS Sith. You have to remember that the Jedi and the Republic nearly wiped them all out in the Hyperspace War, which to the Republic was some minor thing, but to the Sith it was the whole near end of their civilization. It's also why everyone trusted Vitiate for so long, because he lead them to safety. As for Marr's face, my bet is him looking like this

It helps, I think, that unlike most Darths you run into in TOR, Marr is very respectful towards the PC no matter your class. He doesn't try to impinge on the Bounty Hunter's independent nature, the Imperial Agent's secretive streak (or that the Agent is Darth Jadus' right hand), or either Sith's position in the hierarchy. You're the person he needs for the task at hand and he's not about to endanger that with a petty pissing match unless the PC is DS and as such a very dangerous instrument liable to do as much harm to the Empire as the actual enemy. On Rishi, Bounty Hunters can even tell Mako that they have no problem with being the Dark Council's troubleshooter as long as it's people like Marr calling the shots rather than people like Tormen.

For all the handwringing about emotions and the suppression thereof the Jedi are still correct that light-side is the way to go and that the dark side is bad and uncool. You don't even need to approach it from a moral standpoint so much as the fact that the competent choices that lead to long-term success are light side ones.

# ? Oct 13, 2015 02:33 |

Which is the reason Marr cites when he names the LS Inquisitor Darth Imperius. Your actions, unorthodox though they may be, have consistently strengthened the Empire as a whole, and Marr bestows the name Imperius as a result.

You don't even need to approach it from a moral standpoint so much as the fact that the competent choices that lead to long-term success are light side ones. The problem is that Jedi != Light Side and Sith != Dark Side. They're 4 different things. Light Side = Choosing others over yourself, pursuing balance, being fair, being merciful, forgiving. Dark Side = Being selfish, choosing power above all else and at the expense of others, using/abusing/killing others for personal gain, being vengeful, being greedy, holding grudges. Jedi = Eschewing emotion and personal attachments in order to stave off corruption and more easily follow the Light Side. The Force can only be accessed through strict discipline and self control. Sith = Giving in to your emotions and through them accessing the Force. The former two are mutually exclusive, the latter two are mutually exclusive, but the two pairs can cross in any combination. Jedi/Sith is like the dichotomy between Vulcans/Humans in Star Trek... Vulcans are all about self control and lack of emotions because they're inherently extremely emotional and their blood runs hot. Humans embrace their emotions and often use their gut or emotional reasons to justify their actions. Even in Star Trek, there are both good and evil humans and Vulcans. YES I REFERENCED STAR TREK IN A STAR WARS THREAD. gently caress YOU.

FYI guys guild is getting full (at 485 and it was at 450 a few days ago) and I'm down to kicking people that haven't logged in for 40-50 days (prevously it was 60-70). There's no limit to how many people you can have in the guild, BUT if you've got alts that you leveled to see the story and have zero intention of ever playing again and feel like removing them to make room for more people, go for it. If you're actively going to play them, then don't worry about it - I'm talking about that Operative you made to see the Imperial Agent from the female story perspective, got to 50 and said "Never playing her again." Again, not gonna force anyone to boot their alts but there is a cap of 500 and I have a feeling KOTFE will bring some people back along with some new people (Which is awesome). If things continue the way they've been then we can get a runoff guild going for alts.
