Immune ? I don't know what you're getting at here but aids is Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. Autoimmune diseases suck but they are part of a completely different spectrum of diseases ? In HIV/AIDS the body does not fight itself, the virus comes in to wreck your immune system. It's a good ol' infection and not at all autoimmune.

Although one does effect the other. Some autoimmune diseases can disappear or become less severe during stage II of the disease. Others sometimes appear during stage III, so it's swings and roundabouts and then you die. It would be interesting if modified HIV could be used to treat autoimmune conditions, similar to how it gained fame as a novel leukemia therapy.

The envelope protein of HIV has an immunosuppressive domain that people are currently using to try and reduce graft rejection. Also that same immunosuppressive domain might help in materno-fetal tolerance through syncytins. (I'll stop the derail here cause this is very much my research topic and I could go on for aaaaages.) E: still, aids is not autoimmune itself. It wrecks the immune system so it affects a lot of other stuff, but it's not autoimmune.

I'm not the guy to which you're replying, and this is a sort of aside, but an interesting fact is that a think tank called The Project For A New American Century: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century wrote, before 9/11, that a "new Pearl Harbor" should be used to accelerate their plan for a forever-war in the Middle East, resulting in a global US police role. The members of the Project were the future Bush cabinet, including Cheney and Rumsfeld.
