edit: rather than double-posting, I'll ask this here: how hard is it (or how long will it take) to get your PVP rank up to 50? I'm at 13 right now, if that matters.

I actually started PvPing in earnest back in August, doing daily Frontline daily roulette and knocking out Wolves Den weekly challenge every week, and hit the halfway point of rank 40 a week ago. So I would say 3-4 months if you stay on top of your dailies/weeklies. The experience scaling gets rough 35+, but your weekly bonus are percentage based so each week you're guaranteed 50% of your current rank.

The hardest part is probably grabbing 7 others to knock out the wolves den challenge log each week.

Dang. I guess my desire to do it is also driven by some of the super sweet glamours that PVP offers at level 50. I'll start doing the daily roulette.

Greetings, it is I, the 400 post reddit thread about the evils of parsers. Here is a helpful fact from me to you:

Did you know parsers will cause everyone under 700dps to be kicked from the group? Not only that, but the horrifying abuse of "hey you should use heavy thrust more often" will mentally scar the fragile casual player, who as we all know is unable to handle the stress of communication in general. They're lucky they have people like us, the 400 post reddit thread about the evils of parsers, looking out for them, as they cannot do so themselves and probably need their diapers changed too.

The nice thing about PvP glamours, is that you don't need PvP rank to use them as glamours. Just buy up all the gear you want. Don't worry about saving up for the level 60 set for when/if you hit PvP rank 50. You'll get more than enough marks for a full set by the time you reach max rank.

Also PvP gear is pointless at 60 for Frontlines anyways since PvP materia are disabled and everyone is scaled down to item level 150 on top of it.

I feel like half these dip shits never played wow. I did dungeons and LFR and never once did I see someone get kicked for poo poo DPS. You would just carry them and go about your day. In LFR they would be hassled "sometimes" but in dungeons we would just carry the terrible pubbie and not say a word.

I love afking entire front line dailies and getting wins. Feels good. And people never vote kick you for just moving every minnute no where near battle.

Oh perfect. I still need to run more pvp to get the wolf marks I need. That behemoth sword for DRKs looks super cool.

It took me ~450 games with a 40% first place rate to get from 0-50 doing just frontlines games. Weekly bonuses and daily included but a lot of weeks I'd hit something like 30 games.

700 isn't that bad, in my experience. I notice myself doing more than 50% of the total group DPS in a fair number of EXDRs, and I'm not that far above average (no i210 gear, for example.) With the right* perspective, seeing other players hit >700 is like a delightful treat!! And you get lots of comments like "wow this was the fastest run I've ever had!" at the end!

PvP gear actually does have some value, at least to me as a nin and other dps classes I imagine. Very little of it has accuracy on it, which is great. Technically I could maybe throw together a 150+ frankenstein set with no acc without pvp gear but I kind of doubt it since it looked to be all over my eso and gordian sets.

soul baking.
700-800 dps is fine for someone who is geared in 150-170 stuff. If someone has an eso weapon and various 190+ gear and is still putting out 700-800 as a dps class then they need to work on tightening up.

Regarding glamours: this site lets you submit, tag, and search by class, type, and item. So you can type in a piece of armor and see what others have done with it, or just browse BLM glamours or whatever. It's pretty cool!

it's nice that now, in FFXI's retirement, all of us tanaka victims can simultaneously agree that the game was terrible and yet wallow in the nostalgia of the sound/etc design. immediately after having flashbacks of leveling down I started a video of Vana'diel March and it made me feel better

also: skillchains were cool and good and a heavily altered version of such, with DPS cooperating to do more damage, would be rad; fight me irl
