Slogans in Arabic criticizing the show were reportedly in latest episode

Street artists in Berlin say they’ve “hacked” the Showtime series Homeland, sneaking Arabic graffiti critical of the show into scenes by daubing them on sets they were hired to help design.

A group identifying itself as The Arabian Street Artists, including Heba Amin and Caram Kapp, says its anti-Homeland graffiti appeared in the most recent episode of the show, which aired Sunday, October 11. TIME has not been able to independently verify the claims.

Slogans in Arabic such as “Homeland is racist,” “There is no Homeland,” and “This show does not represent the views of the artists” were painted onto sets, the artists said. In a statement posted on Amin’s website, the artists call Homeland “the most bigoted and racist TV series.” The award-winning show has received criticism from some quarters for its depictions of Muslims and the Middle East. TIME has reached out to Showtime and the network said it would soon issue a response to the claims.

"Hey can't we get someone who reads Arabic to tell us what it says? No? gently caress it, just make sure we use ambiguity in the article, no one is going to screen cap and translate the writing from the aired episodes."

Speaking of WGN and syndication, a while back they used to air old episodes of Law & Order and they were very bizarrely censored. It was like someone took a hatchet to the show because you'd get things that make sense like silencing any slurs a character might say but then also stuff like the episode where a guy is purposefully infecting women with AIDS and they censor the term "bareback" in reference to sex. Or how they would blur out any racy material, like a fake porno box or compromising pictures but then take it too far again and blur out a mannequin's chest or the front of some random guy's underwear.

I always remember having WGN when I was a kid, because I was constantly confused about why their "7 O'Clock Movie" started at 8:00.

...I didn't really understand time zones. Or that it was based out of Chicago. It was just one of those weird things.

WGN was one of the original Superstations, which were stations local to a certain market that were broadcast nationwide via C-Band satellites (you know, the big-rear end satellite dishes that some people used to have in their backyards before Dish/DirecTV were a thing). It's been on cable lineups at least as far back as the '90s as "WGN Superstation" and then they changed to "WGN America" some time in the 2000s.

I'm kind of surprised that nobody here seems to recognize the channel, between living in Maryland and Pennsylvania it's been on every cable lineup everywhere I've lived.

So many of the old superstations are still broadcasts in Canada and I've always wanted to buy time on them to bitch at people as its super cheap compared to national commercial time.

And how do we do that? We hurt a lot of people...

Just watched the pilot for The Romeo Section and it seems pretty interesting. It's by the dude who created Intelligence, the so-called Canadian The Wire, which I really enjoyed. I don't really know what's going on in the Romeo section yet, it's about spies but they just throw you into the thick of things with no exposition at all. There's a university professor who seems to be a handler, someone who is either undercover or a CI in a criminal organization and is boning the bosses wife, some triad-looking dudes, some people at the university who may or may not be spies and a Mexican seeking sanctuary in a church in Vancouver for some reason. No clue what's actually going on but I'll definitely keep watching.

Friends is finally on netflix France, could I be anymore happy?

They've added a shitload of stuff with it:

Walkyrie with Tom Cruise (heard of it)

An Unfinished Life with Redford and Freeman (never heard of it)

a rom com with Pierce Brosnan and Juliette Moore called Laws of Attraction

Jungle 2 Jungle a movie starring Tim Allen. It's the American adapation of the French movie Un indien dans la ville (An Indian in the City)

the guv'nors (looks like a movie about hooligans?)

Premonition starring Sandra Bullock.

an animated movie called Planet 51

Pinot Simple Flic (Pinot, Just a Cop), that's a French comedy from the eighties, loving weird to see that on Netflix.

Next with Nicolas Cage

Kirikou and the Witch, it's a French animation movie set in Africa.

Dikkenek, Belgian movie.

Casino starring Pesci, de Niro and Stone, I 'm sure it's awesome.

Watched this week's Blindspot last night and yeah, that twist at the end really soured me on the show. It didn't help that the episode was kind of slow in general, with the main threat sort of just being solved without any real tension or suspense. I don't know if this show can afford to spin its wheels like this. Them preventing catastrophic attacks just in time based on accidentally discovering tattoo patterns is getting a bit ridiculous, and I still don't know any of the supporting characters' names because they're such walking cliches. It reminds me of early season one of AoS, hopefully it improves a bit quicker.
