Finished up my first Mechanicus commission, saving me the money of getting the Dominus, which is a pretty nice model (but I didn't want to pay £22 for it) More here: https://imgur.com/a/4hhjp I do have some serious base envy after looking at Pierre's Dominus, though...typical post-painting regret! e: I'm going to the Warhammer World Open Day tomorrow and we're planning on sitting in on at least one of the seminars where they take Q&A, and of course talking to various fluff/rules/designer people at the tables... Any serious questions you guys want answered? Something that won't get an eyeroll as a response. I have been collecting a few questions such as: - Why have no FAQs been released in many months - What prompts the update of a codex: critical rules updates, sales/production cycle, etc. (I seriously am curious how the concept/design/rules/marketing process works) - and of course Will 40K get an extreme rules simplification like Fantasy (I don't expect a direct answer to this, so I may just not bother asking) krushgroove fucked around with this message at 19:44 on Oct 16, 2015 |

I played a game last night against my friend's crazy Chaos army, The Harrowed. It was his first in a while so he had to shake the rust off, but despite a pretty lopsided first few turns, he was able to come back and make a game out of it. The end result was 13-11, Dark Angels victory, but a hard fought one with maybe a dozen models left per side. The highlights were definitely his heralds and Chaos Lord, who definitely did the most damage for him, and my gravcannon Devastators, who singlehandedly gunned down half of the Chaos Marines, a Soulgrinder, the Bloodthirster, and then on overwatch took out half of a huge mob of Khornedogs, which they managed to hold up in combat for a few turns after that. Here's some pictures: Hot bike on bike action: More bikes, shortly before getting charged and failing to run away: Holding the temple: Terminators, scouring the wastes for daemons and heretics: [img/http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2015/10/16/751224_md-Chaos%2C%20Dark%20Angels.JPG[/img] MVPs:

270 pts for the leviathan. Pretty savage. Str 7 ap 3 6 shot tank hunters cannon, has a DCCW which does d3 extra wounds on a 4+ if you suffer an unsaved wound and has a graviton gun which is 3d6 armour pen (it has no str tho) and does double HP damage.

I love that the default country on their site seems to be Australia. I love that they can't sync all the new stuff across countries so to see the new items right now you need to be on Australia (instead of the US, at least). I love the 100 dollar box of troops. Sadly it also suffers from the usual FW problem of 'not understanding how CCWs work on walkers'. RAW if you take off one of it's claws it loses 2 attacks - one from the gun upgrade (which states it loses 1 attack) and another from no longer having an additional CCW. The Mega & Meka Dredds have the same issue. They need to stop including bonus attacks from multiple CCWs in the profile and get rid of the stupid 'lose 1 attack by replacing a weapon with a gun' they keep writing.

In non-marine news, FW has announced the revised Doom of Mymeara (ie the Eldar book) coming very soon, they will be doing Corsair Jetbike and special wraithknight models. Both of those look quite boring, weapons swaps only, plus it looks like boring head swaps for the jetbikers and boring vane swaps for the wraithknights. Would have liked to see something a bit more exciting. On the other hand, I would love to have a Corsair army list that lets me use something like the harlequin starweaver with an Eldar army. Currently, due to the harlequin detachment rules, there is no way to take them outside of Unbound. Really I'd settle for any Eldar list that works around jetbikes, light vehicles and open transports.

You can just take the harlequin detachment. You don't *NEED* to take the CAD to have a legal army. They ally in dark eldar, either through the CAD or ally detachment. The corsair list let's you take eldar / dark eldar units as elite choices, if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I should have said that I can't take a Starweaver by itself, ie as a transport for non-harlequin models. I like the vehicles (and the skyweavers) and have converted them with eldar corsair crew, but I don't actually like the space clowns. Bit picky I know.

Safety Factor posted:So is this still going to be the proposed shattered legions book? I know the plan was to have a dedicated Prospero book for the Space Wolves and Thousand Sons and I thought the rumor was that they'd wait for that release for their rules. Not like I'm complaining, if they can squeeze every legion's rules into this book it's be fantastic. Even without special characters and units. Still two separate books, I think. Prospero will have the Wolves, Sons, Sisters of Silence, and Custodes. The other (Tempest?) will have all the other legions that haven't been in yet and shattered legions.
