I have nothing else. Other than some HP 100mhz thing with a broken power button (so it's always on when plugged in) that has a stupid number of controls that I don't know how to use

I am very curious about this little crescendo
You know years ago in the UK some freephone numbers didn't have a number to call, you just dialled the operator on 100 and asked for "Freephone <company name>" - what the hell was that all about?

So was doing an install the other day and the customer ordered their own lines thru a broker cmopany, who inturn ordered the circuit through another broker type company and then they got the circuit dropped from AT&T. install was fine, as fine as it gets with Uverse dsl, so then today I hit up the site on log me in to finish configuring and poof! no internet as of liek 430amEST. So i whip out a businessy email that has our coordination, the first broker, the second broker, ATT and the customer on it saying they got no internet. Theres already a repair ticket for the phone lines making GBS threads up miserably, so the customer asks if theyll be working on that as well as the internet, and the first broker company was like 'lol no it installed successful, too bad!' and the second broker was like uh we already opened a ticket who knows if we can add the internet to be fixed' and thenthe third little piggy ATT was like my shithouse is made out of brick yo

i still have no internet, but, friday night motherfuckers

I don't know but that used to happen in my grandpa's childhood, before area codes were a thing, so it would just be that you could ask for a few large enough companys and they wouldn't charge you, though if you dialed them direct they'd still charge like normal.

perhaps it was cheaper to make the customer dial an operator for that company to do the no charge call, rather than the company also paying for a proper number that automatically meant toll free?
