I don't want to dissuade you at all because it's great and only gets better past part one, but that's the one part that I just don't think I can re-read because it's so hard to watch it play out. Jolyne doesn't get into it but the real reason she dislikes her dad is because after the divorce he added extra anchors to his jacket, got a sports car, started smoking pot in the garage while listening to prog rock, and ruined her one big teenage party by coming in & telling everyone not to worry cuz he's 'cool,' then out of nowhere announced to a crowded room that he's actually the fall out shelter boys' number one fan
