When the mage blows themselves up if a witch hunter is in the party the mage should automatically be killed rather then downed.

No. The Colleges of Magic are a formal part of the Empire and sanctioned Wizards are given free reign as long as they don't do stupid poo poo. The colleges also mostly police themselves, a rogue College wizard can expect other members of his College to come down on them like a sack of bricks if they start some poo poo up. Witch Hunters mostly deal with chaos cults, unsanctioned wizards and other unauthorized magical stuff.

Witch Hunters hunt down chaos worship and mutation, not wizards. Magic in Warhammer Fantasy isn't taboo or reviled the way psykers are in 40k.

Witch Hunters on the other hand, are just like the Inquisition in that while everyone is glad they're there no one actually wants to be near it.

Thats because a Witch Hunter has the authority to do anything to root out chaos and heresy. Anything. Burn down an entire village because there are rumors of a cult situated in it? No problems. Lynching every man, woman and child of a household because they saw the wrong thing? Yep. You don't gently caress with the witch hunters, they make the witch burnings look mild. Peak Warhammer distilled into one character.

Demiurge4 posted:Basically. If the Witch Hunter knows that 1 guy in a throng of 100 is guilty and the rest are innocent, he'll just kill the whole 100 and be satisfied he got the guilty one. Most of the witch hunters portrayed in the Warhammer fluff aren't actually like this and are generally principled dudes who actually care about protecting the peasantry because there's absolutely no point in "protecting" a village by killing everyone in it, it's like shooting a guy in the face to cure his cancer and Fantasy isn't like 40k where burning a planet to ashes means nothing because there's ten thousand more just like it. Killing a whole shitload of people for no reason is actually meaningful in Fantasy and witch hunters don't enjoy the nearly infinite authority that inquisitors do in 40k. Witch hunters are usually just huge hardliners who are utterly without mercy, so if they find your rear end doing something you shouldn't be they will torture and burn you to death without a thought. They're still going to go through the motions to at least attempt to establish innocence or guilt before doing so, though, so it's not going to be "Siegfried is casting magic on my cows!" "Well, guess I'd better burn his family to death." Kanos fucked around with this message at 00:54 on Oct 21, 2015 |

Assuming he (or she) can get someone to back them up. Hunters aren't given nearly the cart-blanch that 40k Inquisitors are, and have to make a case for why they need troops for a situation or be forced to settle for what mercs and thugs they can hire.

Aside from a dumb player every now and then, the community from random players has been pretty decent and helpful, as far as online shooters are concerned. But it's the internet so you never know. I rather have this nonsense happen before release rather than release day. You only get one shot at a good impression and this game deserves the chance at success.
