Come to me .... and live forever.
Man, they're really into this "people buried in mattresses" thing this season, huh?

They're really ramping up the dramatics as well. It's the kind of thing you're either happy to indulge in or not. Personally, I'm pretty apathetic to it by now. That longwinded opening Alex monologue, the elevator scene with a bunch of stoic savior talk, the son's hate for his mother that is wholly unexplained except for a hint of a vegetarian cult - it's all really pretty cliche frankly. It's a lot of musing and halfhearted poetry without any substance. And like I've said before, it's weird, because they'll go from doing that, to straight up explaining the backstory that makes the show the least bit interesting.

Speaking of which, Madoff? Really? This immortal puppetmaster got suckered in by Madoff? It's a lazy reference on the same level as the anti-vaccine stuff. And funny enough, it comes off the news that his victims will get about a million back if their claim is valid.

Also, they said poo poo a lot tonight. Like a dozen times at least.

It's like I'm watching someone's ridiculous Livejournal roleplay and the detective and his drama is like the one serious RPer who might be good at it, but his character is just wildly out of place among the vampires and ghosts.

The lack of expression from him is incredible. I get absolutely no feeling. Especially during the scene where he is served divorce papers.

blah blah voiceover monologue Finn WIttrock and Lady Gaga softcore porn, it's the same setting as season one except in a hotel and there doesn't seem to be a plot.

Evan Peters is amazing this season. I feel like that Google joke has been done before, and not just on 30 Rock, but his delivery of "That sounds obscene!" was so gleeful. And so far I'm liking the season, but I'm not sure if it's just because Freak Show and Coven were so, so bad.

Yeah I don't really get the hate watchers making GBS threads all over this season. These are people who willingly sat through Coven. I mean maybe it's just that the bar has been set so low that anything seems good in comparison, but I'm liking this season so far, and far better than Coven or Freak Show.

But like Freak Show I'm really just waiting for Finn Wittrock to start the inevitable crazy murder spree.

I have not seen a single episode of Coven. I had no idea what was going on in the first two episodes of Hotel, and I just could not engage with the third one. I think I may just be too burned by Freak Show to give it a fair chance.

I've been following the thread for awhile and Freakshow really ruined the fun for people.

It's the unfortunate circumstance that people really went into Hotel expecting to hate it already. I don't blame them really, but it didn't really have a chance. Any flaws get magnified and any sense of mystery or anticipation get discredited because the payoff in Freakshow was horrendous.

I agree with this. Season 1 was probably my favorite season, which may explain my love with this season thus far. People are saying that it is basically a clone of the Murder House, but I loved that season so I say bring it on.

I was also extremely worried that with Lady GaGa's bane attached to it that every single scene would have her laying all over it, but I have no complaints yet. And maybe it is because the bar was set sooooo low after Coven (which was bad, but I still finished watching it) and Freak Show (I bailed out after episode 5 or so, and after hearing all the responses, I am happy I did). But no matter the reason, I'm enjoying this one at this point.

Also, to whoever was asking for male actors you could actually tell apart, I have to echo that. I mean sure, you've got a type. But the character confusion is really irritating.

Wait, where's this confusion happening? The only two I'm remotely "confusing" for the other are Kathy Bates' son and Will Drake and that's only from a distance. Wes Bentley is Wes Bentley and Finn Wittrock has the feathered hair and open silk shirt.

I guess I'm in the minority then. I liked it, especially the emotional thread tying everything together: mothers, obsessive or not, and what they do to those they create. With the Countess killing off her partners that don't love her exclusively and attempt to turn others, Donovan both lashing out at his mother then bringing her back (irony I loved), and the fixated, tragic love of Alex to her son Holden, tearing up any family left with her husband and daughter, only to reunite with Lochlan at the hotel.

We didn't get deaths or jump scares, apart from the weird mirror thing, another 10 Commandments death-scene, and the anticlimactic murder by bed hands of Claudia Bankson. So I'm guessing that's where the hate is coming in? But you know it's all set-up. I'm just hoping it's not a Freakshow thing, all set-up and no returns.

I'm really enjoying this season so far. I like the detective and his wife, it's a normal, human storyline (which this show has been missing for the last couple of seasons). I like the relationship between Kathy Bates and her son, and the ambiguity of it - was she really a horrible mother, or just an overprotective anxious single mom raising a spoiled brat? I love Liz Taylor, and can't wait to get her backstory, and although Sally needs to either do something interesting or go away, I dig her character too (minus the perma-tears on her face). I just have to ask - was it in Lady Gaga's contract that she do a sex scene in every episode? I'm not a prude or anti-sex-scene by any means, but surely I'm not the only one getting tired of her mostly bare rear end rolling around in bed with partner-of-the-week.

Also, "That sounds OBSCENE" is my new favorite line ever, and I plan to use it at every opportunity.

She has to show her rear end; she can't act her way out of a paper bag. I don't see much of anything that wasn't already displayed in her music videos. She needs more or the other actors will just chew up whatever scenes she's put in.

Detective guy and his wife are boring. Still loving everything else though. Hoping the feud between Angela Basset and Gaga doesn't turn out as lame as the witch vs. voodoo priestess thing in Coven, so much wasted potential there.

Liz Taylor owns. I kinda want to know her backstory, but I think it's better unexplained.

I just like Lady Gaga in general so she can do literally anything on the show and I'm down. I keep waiting for her to break out into a dance pop number or yell "I'm a free bitch, baby!" at any moment.

Echoing the Liz Taylor love, I'm assuming she's alive but I can't wait to hear more.

But I disagree with the prefect tear that Sally always seems to be seeking. As a ghost is she getting pleasure from the heroin or just enjoying the ritual with those who can still feel it?

I think she longs to hear pain and empathize with it because the heroin is(her physical manifestation can experience dopamine still) or isn't(she dead.) working anymore.

They could also look the same because nobody bothered to make them look younger or older. Usually when you hit your 50's or 60's people just leave Flashback You alone or maybe just put a little bit of makeup on you and hope the audience doesn't overanalyze it.

Usually the best way to handle flashback/flash forward aging is to make the present day character look even older than they are and make the flashback character look younger than the actor's age. But not every show bothers.
