There were few governments of its type when the constitution was written and subsequent governments in other countries have made huge improvements on the model it provided. It was intended to be mutable, but the bars to doing so are high enough that the lazier option is just to create a kind of hagiography around the constitution in its original form, which is to the country's detriment.

OTOH some state governments basically write every tiny little law into their constitution and that's stupid

The American Constitution was a nice idea in theory that ended up a quagmire in practice. Like most constitutions actually.

We (Britain) bypassed this problem by never writing the loving thing down so it was a quagmire from the start. Oh wait that made the problem worse.

I don't think they had human rights when the US constitution was written. The amendments are supposed to be there to guarantee human rights as they were understood at the time.

Mate, a Stalinist is probably not the best person to rail against a state not guaranteeing human rights. Even if you agree with him, tankies can't believe in human rights and suppressing dissent.

Can we ignore the Stalinist and get back to laughing at libertarians?

Or is this just part of the natural life cycle of a JRod thread before the containment zone was put in place? He loses his argument, he vanishes, and we start eating each other until the thread gets closed?

That's how things usually end, but prior to that point we usually are treated to periods where Jrod vanishes for a while, then pops back up to only answer the most facile and unserious posts made (often ones which are accurately accusing his idols of being racists or misogynists for some odd reason) and decrying any number of petty complaints before essentially posting the same things he's already said all over again, sometimes interspersed with sneeringly self-righteous demands that us evil Statists "just put the guns down" w.r.t. the existence of basic social legislation and/or property tax.

Of newer vintage, he also now seems to want to fight us in real life.

Be fair, though, one of them ruled the USSR and the other one got mined for thought-ore. There's nothing wrong with imagining a scenario where Lenin's last letter was passed on and Stalin didn't ascend to rule. It'd be purely academic of course... unless, wait, do you have a time machine? I'll pay you in doughnuts!
