make your router a dns server
find a list of ad servers
tell the dns server on your router to resolve those servers to 127.0.0.1 or something
also i hear chromecasts use a hardcoded dns server, so you might have to find a way to intercept dns

I couldn't figure out how to do it with my router, but I updated my hosts file. That'll be good enough, right?

Doesn't this null routing trick result in some pages taking even longer to load because they have to wait for the ads to time out first while they endlessly hope your router replies?

it looks like redtube will come with a google play music subscription, or if you already have a google play music sub you'll get redtube. that doesn't seem so bad maybe.

also you'll allegedly get the ability to listen to youtube videos on mobile while the screen is off or even you're in another app lol

nah stuff like protube is on the apple app store™. they even strip ads.

people seem rather grumpy about the new YouTube iOS interface. I have yet to see it because my google account has always been years late to receive any changes. it is nice because I don't get hit with googles short lived bad ideas like when they forced Google+ accounts on everyone (but me).
