I always save a handful before I butter/salt it and put it in a ziploc to use as treats over the next week or so for the potatobird I'm home alone for a few days so that's the perfect excuse to attempt to make a giant batch of popcorn later and possibly make a horrible mess everywhere I wish he would come out and hang out, though. Ohtori has too much energy and doesn't sit and just chill on my shoulder or anything, Inko would chew his way into my jugular... but Mr Pending never seems to want to sit on my shoulder any more either. He'll hang out on the back of the chair, or the arm of it, if he's not just sat on his cage. I want a drat adorable cute cuddle bird! Those specific noises are only when he is gently play fighting. I think he probably makes them to show that we are having fun and being gentle. They are similar to his other lovey noises. Usually he's a lot more vocal when we are tickle fighting, but the camera made him a little shy.

That's so cute zbeezy, thanks for mentioning Sunshine Factor! I ordered some for Ama, we don't get as much sunlight in this apartment as I would like. re: birds sitting in their cages with the doors open: Ama does that all the time, too. Just hangs out on his favorite perches and chills and snoozes, but GOD FORBID I close the door or even look like I'm about to close the door

I had a budgie who liked to finger wrestle, wish I could've gotten a video of it at the time because it was the most hilarious thing. I love when Simon wants to play: he rolls on his back and wiggles his feet in the air until he grabs something so he can BITE THE poo poo OUT OF IT. It's so hard not to fall into that trap though because he just kind of slowly falls over and is so drat cute!

Bird picture time! Sammy being a little poof ball. Kiwi! She's just starting to let me touch her! She loves pets but still won't leave her cage and has only let me pick her up three times since she started getting regular scritches time I haven't been able to record Kiwi yet, and I wish I could. When she's blissed out from scritches, she'll whisper her name over and over again. It's very cute Shirec fucked around with this message at 02:29 on Oct 23, 2015 |

I dream of the day my birds won't fly to the back of the cage in a panic when I open the door Canary will respond and start singing along when I whistle at him though, the problem then is that he then won't shut the gently caress up.

Went to the San Diego Zoo today on my vacation. Missed a couple of aviaries but gawked at a bunch of birds of the psittacine variety. There were some Palm Cockatoos quietly foraging on the ground which honestly freaked me out because they weren't being belligerent weirdos.

Dreggon posted:give them sunny seeds I've tried my problem is that they are all avery bred birds with no human socialisation at all. the tiels were imported from Russia to the UK as well, simply because anything other than budgies, canaries and African greys (one breeder churns them out, I wouldn't buy one from him) are very hard to find - it took me four years to find them and I had to take what I could get. They are fine to chill on the window ledge when I am in the room but other than buzzing me that's as close as they will get. If I had one on it's own then it might be different but I have bonded pairs so I'll just have to keep on trying and hopefully in time they will accept me.

Hey I'm going to new zealand with my mom for a vacation next year and I wanna start getting an idea of where to go specifically. Anyone know what the best zoos are? And by best I mean the most cool birds that I can possibly also pet. One of my friends said Auckland zoo was a good one but I'm open to other ideas.

Google bird tours New Zealand, friend of mine spent a month going on random ones she found on the Internet and has pictures of herself standing in the middle of a flock of parakeets like she was feeding the birds in Mary poppins.

http://www.tiritirimatangi.org.nz/ I went here in 2001. It's an island sanctuary free of mammal predators that was repopulated with a good variety of native birds. To get there, you take a ferry from Auckland - it'd be a day trip.
