I like what I've seen of the post-chapter 9 stuff so far (I really like mgs 5 :shobon:) but I'm going crazy trying to pick my One Character to work through it on. I did kotfe on my jugg, which was satisfying story-wise and it's a fun class to play in solo content but I'm not sure I'm poo poo-hot about playing it in raids or hard modes.

I am physically incapable of not swapping between alts, this is torture for me

I still wonder why you can't just buy the fucker outright. Even if you can pay for the legacy unlock, the recruitment quest remains horrible and the expansion probably even made it a little worse.

Yeah, I'd have bought him for sure if it were an option but I just don't care enough to grind through the quest. Especially now that you have a gazillion other powerful companion choices.

Maybe it's a concession to the "why should filthy casuals get access to something I had to work hard to get when it was new content " crowd

So KotFE ending spoilers It seems like things end with you taking it to the new Emperor and his sister, then making a new alliance and that's where it ends. Any word on when the story will continue, or is that the next planned expansion?

Starting in December (or January I forget) the plan is to release a new chapter every month, I believe.

And chapter 10 can't come soon enough because I'm on pins and needles trying to figure out who the character referenced in the description will turn out to be

Actually they weren't taken out--they were just changed to greens instead of blues, and from what I saw, those green mods they sell will actually not gimp you significantly at all. They go all the way up to 190 at 60, which is perfectly respectable.

Sadly HK-55 is heads and shoulders above 51 in every way. 51 just felt so soulless compared to even 47 at the time. He wasn't funny and he didn't have anything to identify himself beyond "Efficiency". 55 was an awesome take on an HK model for good guys and I am sad he is dead. I hope we can save him. :ohdear:

Agreed. The part where he talks to you over the radio intermittently as he "cleans the ship" cracked me up. I was hoping for more of that, but alas. Hopefully he comes back in future chapters.

Post-chapter 9 question: Do you ever get to use the gravestone for anything ever again? I was kind of psyched about the idea of having my own capital ship as a hub of sorts, but it looks like that's not happening now, it's just sort of floating off in the distance in Odessen. But I've only just started the post-game content, I haven't even finished the star fort intro yet. Maybe it comes back? For right now I plan to run a Pub and Imp char to completion and at least a Dark and Light run of each class through the story content.

My main raiding chars on each side are already full set bonus 224's.

Gonna go armchair game designer for a minute:

I think Bioware made a couple of missteps with KOTFE. The story structure obviously draws on the success of Telltale and similar adventure games (Darth Marr will remember that), but there is an inherent difference between those and an MMO. The single player adventure game is meant to be played multiple times to experience different branches and see what your choices lead to. Recent release Life is Strange even goes a step further by including time rewinding as an in-game mechanic. You're able to rewind and re-do conversations and actions to see the immediate payoff. With the MMO format, it's impossible to reload a saved game, so your only option to experience a different path is to run a new character through. Given that all this content starts at 60, that's a significant investment of either time or money.

They also missed the chance to integrate your legacy characters as part of the alliance. Like you say, there's no incentive to build up the alliance on multiple characters because of all the repetitive work involved. What if instead, all your characters were involved in building the same alliance? Work you do on different characters would still be an incremental contribution to your overall goals, and it would give the sense of your legacy all working together which is kind of the theme of this expansion. There would be some issues with how to handle the pre-KOTFE/KOTFE split, but nothing that couldn't be worked out.

You can use that character for everything except class story and main planetary story, both which you should/might have already done. You also loose your companions (you get a pop-up about it the second you start the expansion, it's not a spoiler), so might want to finish whatever with those.

On lost companions:
You get them back afterwards by doing fetch-quests, even companions for other classes. Not all the companions are fetch-able yet, I assume they will come over time.

Simple. Working towards the alliance will only count after you have finished chapter X, whichever is the most appropriate. Probably chapter 9.

Yeah, at a minimum, I feel like companion (or at least advisor) influence should be tied to your legacy rather than your character.

See that's what I was thinking. Make it like Reputation. I'd even settle for faction specific - an Imperial alliance and a Republic version.

The only reason I can think they didn't do this is because a) story immersion, there can be only one Outlander! and b) they said that there is a chance you'll lose anyone at any time, and people might want to lose companions on certain characters and not others.

Edit - And I was totally thinking Telltale during the game too, with the "X will remember this" notes. I hope this means GHOST VALKORYIAN AS COMPANION SPOOOOOOOOOOOOKY

Truth be told I don't think that it will matter all that much. The largest decisions that can be made in the 9 chapters we've played are "Kneel to Valkorian" and "Use Valkorian's Power." I've leveled characters that have taken both alternatives and the chief difference are dialogue alterations. The core narrative remains the same regardless, and this is one of the reasons that I think going forward Valkorian is going to have more influence over the PC regardless of whether or not you used his power.

Honestly, I'm fine with this. As excellent as KOTFE is from a single-player standpoint, it remains an MMO, and so it is constrained by certain rules, such as "The PC must always be playable." I don't think anyone with reasonable expectations was going into this expecting a full single-player Bioware/Telltale experience.
