We need to get these candidates talking about college football. Iowa is 7-0 and looking to be in great shape to go 12-0, so if we can get candidates to snub Iowa when discussing the playoff contenders, a lot of people in Iowa would probably get really pissed off. If reading Iowa football message boards has taught me anything, it's that a lot of Iowa fans are really bigoted assholes who are going to vote republican.

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-10-23/jeb-bush-orders-across-the-board-pay-cuts-for-struggling-campaign Tl:dr Jeb! is officially toast and unwilling to admit it. Across the board pay cuts, major staff cuts, cutting back on fundraising, "focus on early states", i.e. what every candidate says when they start winding down their campaign. quote:One Bush adviser told Bloomberg Politics in an interview Friday morning that the team was “unapologetic” about the changes, saying the moves were from a “position of strength.” “This is about winning the race,” the adviser said. “We’re doing it now and making the shifts with confidence. We expect to win.”

His only chance is to pull off Iowa or NH. I don't know how long he can remain in third or less and still stay in the race, to say nothing of fifth. If Jeb drops out before a single election that would be completely insane, but there just doesn't seem to be any way to get him to resonate with voters, at all.

Patter Song posted:I liked the reference to some consultants staying on as volunteers. Who hears "Your paid position is now unpaid" and still comes in the next morning? Because there really isn't any campaign to absorb them right now so staying on can be good to pad a resume when a job opportunity comes later in the election. It's basically a function of not having anywhere else to go until another campaign picks up enough speed to hire them on. Work for free now to boost your prospects of being hired on somewhere else or in the incredibly unlike situation that Jeb! rights his campaign or do nothing and compete against those that have more experience in this election when a job comes up.

True believers, people who've already got money and think having the eventual nominee owe them a favor is worth more than cash, and no-hopers who continue as much out of inertia as will. None but the most mercenary are going to be able to transfer from the jeb. campaign to the Trump campaign. Campaigning is a sickness, and generally speaking people who are getting paid this early out are terminal. They'll work for free because not working would mean they had to address the wreckage of their lives. Just like the rest of us.

Breitbart: 20 Reasons Why It should be Trump in 2016 http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/10/22/20-reasons-donald-trump-2016/ quote:3. Yes, he doesn’t have much of a filter. Bravo. We keep hearing from the Trump-naysayers that’s Trump’s mouth is a problem. But where you see a loudmouth, I see candor. Where you see a lack of filter, I see transparency. Where you see a man who gaffes, I see a man who is willing to wipe the cancer of political correctness out of our society. Where you see a loose cannon, I see a man who says what he means and means what he says. Or, would we rather the typical Hollywood celebrity or establishment politician (the two are remarkably similar) who runs a statement by 20 handlers, 10 advisers, and a social-media team before making it? Do we wish to be led by an individual who does not speak from the heart but rather prefers to be advised on what to say and when to say it? Do we wish to be led by a politician who waits to see how the polls emerge on a subject before issuing an opinion? Do you seek a president…. or a ventriloquist puppet whose views who you do not truly know? quote:5. Make no mistake, there is an establishment plot against him. The establishment really, really doesn’t want him – but we really, really do. quote:8. He’s pro-women. In the plot to take down Trump, one of the first tactics tried was to cast him as anti-women. But Trump has worked with many peers and sparred against many rivals – male and female alike – and thus actually shows he treats women as equals (e.g., Yes, he joked about Carly Fiorina – he also joked about . Get it?). Or are we, as women, demanding to be coddled and spared the same treatment as the gents? quote:13. He can bring in independents. Consider this: quote:20. If he doesn’t earn the nomination, there is no hope for American politics.
